Volvo C40 Recharge Breaks Cover In India, Gets 530 Km Range

Swedish carmaker, Volvo has unveiled its second electric vehicle the C40 Recharge in India. The C40 Recharge has been unveiled in a single variant and will go on sale from August. Volvo C40 Recharge

The C40 Recharge shares a resemblance with the XC40 Recharge in terms of its front profile. It utilizes the same Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) as the XC40 Recharge. However, the C40 distinguishes itself with a sloping roofline at the rear, giving it a coupe-like appearance. Notably, it features distinctive LED tail lamps, a rear spoiler, and a twin pod roof spoiler. The vehicle is equipped with 19-inch spoke diamond cut alloy wheels. In terms of color options, the C40 Recharge will be available in six shades: Crystal White, Onyx Black, Fusion Red, Cloud Blue, Sage Green, and Fjord Blue.

The interior features a 12.3-inch driver display, electrically adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, an air purifier, and a vertical 9-inch touchscreen entertainment system with Android OS and a number of pre-installed apps. Additionally, it has an expansive sunroof, wireless charging, a premium 13-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, and other comfort and safety features including ADAS. Following the XC40 Recharge's example, the C40 Recharge misses on leather seating and features Suede textile upholstery.

Volvo C40 Recharge Powertrain

When it comes to the powertrain, the C40 is equipped with a 78kWh battery pack, similar to the XC40 Recharge. The vehicle will be propelled by two electric motors, one for each axle. It boasts a peak torque of 660 Nm and a maximum power capacity of 407 bhp. With the 78 kWh powertrain, the C40 offers a range of 530 km with this setup. Furthermore, utilizing a 150kW DC fast charger, the C40 Recharge can be charged from zero to eighty percent in just 27 minutes.

Volvo C40 Recharge Expected Price

The anticipated price range for the C40 Recharge is approximately Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom). This pricing puts it in direct competition with the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and KIA EV6. It's worth noting that the XC40 Recharge, which is a sibling model, is currently priced at Rs 56.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
