Volvo Cars India Hiked Prices Up To 2 Percent - Read Details
  • The cost of Volvo India's line of vehicles has increased
  • The company currently offers 4 ICE and 1 electric car for sale in India
  • In India, the entry-level Volvo model costs Rs. 46.40 lakh (ex-showroom)

In India, Volvo Cars India has announced a price increase for their whole lineup. The price of Volvo vehicles has increased by 1% to 2% as a result of the current price increase. Only the brand's mild-hybrid powertrains have been impacted by the price increase; the cost of electric vehicles remains unchanged. The new budget's announcement of a shift in customs duties is what caused the most recent price increase. Volvo presently offers the XC40, XC60, XC90 SUV, and S90 sedan in India. The Volvo range now starts at Rs 46.40 lakh in India (ex-showroom).

Volvo Car Price Hike

The base-model Volvo XC40 B4 mild-hybrid now costs Rs 46.40 lakh (ex-showroom), the XC60 B5 is priced at Rs 67.50 lakh (ex-showroom), and the S90 B5 mild-hybrid sedan is now available for Rs 67.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The price of Volvo's premium SUV, the XC90 B6 mild-hybrid, has increased to Rs 98.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Volvo's XC40 Recharge EV remains available for sale at a price of Rs 56.90 lakh (ex-showroom).

The XC40 has a little price difference of Rs 50,000, and the premium SUV XC90 has the largest price differential at Rs 2 lakh. The prices of the XC60 and S90 have increased by Rs 1 lakh.

Commenting on the announcement, Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director, Volvo Car India, said, The changes in customs duty as announced in the recent budget has resulted in an increase in input costs of our petrol mild-hybrid models. This has resulted in marginally increasing the price of our mild hybrids.

Verdict: The most recent price increase was made in order to cover the increased customs charges. Increased customs duties will affect the cost of shipping the vehicles to India.
