Pros & Cons of Yamaha FZS FI BS6
Yamaha FZS FI BS6 Detailed Review
The new Yamaha FZ V3 and the FZ-S V3 are good looking premium commuter motorcycles. Both the motorcycles are completely identical but they get different colour schemes and the Yamaha FZ-S V3 even gets some additional goodies like an engine cowl and some chrome accents. Revised features on the third-generation Yamaha FZS-Fi include a new headlight, side panels, engine cowl, exhaust end can, and tail section. The FZS-Fi resembles the bigger FZ25 more than it does. A new instrument panel that displays the fuel range, are among the new features. At the front, the Yamaha FZ-S V3 gets an all-LED headlamp with a LED DRL. But, sadly it doesn’t get a visor as a part of standard fitment. The new Yamaha FZ-S gets a muscular fuel tank and there are a lot of chrome accents too. Moving to the side profile, one can see that the FZ-S gets a triple-tone treatment on the body that looks quite good and enhances its appeal.

The new Yamaha FZ-S V3 gets a single-piece seat unlike the split seats on its predecessor. The seat of this motorcycle is quite comfortable and it gets split grab rails too. At the rear, the bike gets a halogen tail lamp. The new Yamaha FZ is currently available in just two colour variants. They are - Metallic Black and Racing Blue. The Yamaha FZ-S V3 is currently available in five colour variants. They are - Matte Black, Matte Red, Dark Matte Blue, Dark Knight and the new Vintage Edition too that gets a tan seat. In a nutshell, the FZ-S is a handsome commuter bike.
The new Yamaha FZ-S V3 measures 1990 mm in length, 780 mm in width and it stands 1080 mm high. The wheelbase of the motorcycle is 1330 mm and the seat height has been rated at 790 mm, which is quite decent for both short as well as tall riders. This commuter motorcycle offers a minimum ground clearance of 165 mm and it gets a massive fuel tank that has a total capacity of 13 litres. The new Yamaha FZ-S V3 is quite lightweight and it weighs just 135 kgs.
Summary
The all-new Yamaha FZ-S V3 is a premium commuter motorcycle and it looks pretty good, thanks to its muscular design language. The motorcycle is also available in several colour variants.
The Yamaha FZ-S V3 has a 149cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that complies with BS6, as well as fuel injection technology. This upgraded BS6 motor produces 13.6 Nm of maximum torque at 5500 RPM and 12.2 bhp of maximum power at 7250 RPM. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. While switching from BS4 to BS6 emission requirements, the new Yamaha FZ-S V3 significantly lost power and torque. The motorbike feels somewhat underpowered right now, and its immediate 150cc–160cc competitors undoubtedly deliver far greater performance.
The Yamaha FZ-S V3, however, surpasses in terms of finesse. This Japanese engine is extremely smooth, and there are no noticeable vibrations. When you repeatedly redline the motor at higher RPMs, the vibrations can only be somewhat felt. The new Yamaha FZ-S is a fantastic motorbike for riding in cities because of its low kerb weight and strong pick-up. The motorcycle's midrange and low-end punch are strong, but its top-end performance is little. Additionally, it has good fuel efficiency. In actual riding situations, the Yamaha FZ-S V3 BS6 achieves a mileage of 45 to 55 kilometres per litre. For a motorbike in this market, its fuel economy rating is actually quite impressive.
Summary
The new Yamaha FZ-S V3 is a handsome commuter motorcycle and it offers decent performance too. The motorcycle is also very fuel-efficient and it delivers around 45-55 kmpl of mileage in real-world riding conditions.
Telescopic front forks and a 7-step adjustable Monocross suspension are standard on the new Yamaha FZ-S V3. The motorbike provides a smooth ride because of its well managed suspension setup. The Yamaha FZ-S V3 is a fantastic city bike and also has decent handling. At each end of this revolutionary motorbike, disc brakes handle the braking responsibilities. It has a 220 mm disc brake in back and a 282 mm disc brake in front. A single-channel ABS is also included with the motorbike as a standard safety feature.
The all-new Yamaha FZ-S V3 rides on 17-inch tubeless tyres. The front tyre of the motorcycle measures 100/80-17 while its rear tyre is a 140/60 section R17 unit. The radial rear tyre of the motorcycle aids in its handling characteristics and helps to keep the weight of the motorcycle in check. In terms of features, the Yamaha FZ-S gets an all-digital instrument cluster. Yamaha Motor India has recently also launched a new Bluetooth-enabled version of this commuter motorcycle. It now gets an in-built Yamaha's Bluetooth connectivity along with the 'Yamaha Motorcycle Connect X' application as standard and there is a new side stand engine cut-off switch too. Yamaha’s Motorcycle Connect X application offers a total of six main features. They are Answer Back, E-Lock, Locate My Bike, Hazard, Riding History and Parking Record feature.
Summary
The new Yamaha FZ-S V3 gets decent hardware and it offers a smooth ride quality along with good braking performance. The motorcycle is also decently feature-loaded. It now gets an all-digital instrument cluster loaded with a ton of information and Bluetooth connectivity.
