Yamaha R15-M V4 MotoGP Edition is now sold out pan India. The Japanese manufacturer has pulled the plug on its special edition sports bike in India.

Yamaha India's best-selling product is undoubtedly the R15 sports bike. Available in various variants, Yamaha always ensures to keep the fanatics of this bike engaged. One such example is the MotoGP Edition of the Yamaha R15-M V4, which is now being discontinued across the country.

Yamaha R15-M V4 MotoGP Edition

Presented in a special cosmetic avatar, the MotoGP Edition is designed to cater the racing breed of buyers. While the changes are only cosmetic, the MotoGP Edition marks a special place inside the R15 lovers. Designed by keeping in mind the Yamaha's factory racing bikes in the MotoGP championship; this special edition looks eyebrow-raising nevertheless.

Yamaha R15-M V4 MotoGP Edition

Yamaha incarnated the same Monster Energy and Eneos branding and decals over the fairing. These decals complement the new look of the R15-M which is in its latest 4th generation in India. The single-pod projector headlight along the golden USD forks match the smart and engaging outlook of this special edition. The fuel tank of the bike embeds the matt-black paint finish which supports the overall race-oriented design.

Apart from these visual changes, the rest of the bike remains largely the same as the regular R15-M. It uses the same 155cc, liquid-cooled engine that produces peak power of 18.4 Hp and 14.2 Nm of peak torque. Yamaha equipped the bike with a precise 6-speed transmission that uses the slipper-assist clutch for seamless delivery of power.

Features are also carried over from the regular bike. These include the likes of the digital instrument cluster, Bluetooth connectivity, Navigation, USD forks, dual-channel ABS, quickshifter, and LED headlight.

Yamaha's Focus on EVs

Yamaha recently introduced its E01 e-scooter globally. This e-scooter will soon be launched in the European market. It is a visible fact now, that, the automotive world is switching rapidly towards the EVs. Almost every manufacturer is now developing electric products for some segment. Thus, the discontinuation of such a special edition indicates creating space for EVs in the showrooms.

Although, Yamaha is already selling another special edition called 'R15 World GP 60th Anniversary Edition. This is a special livery that pays homage to the iconic efforts of Yamaha in the GP racing for all these decades. It is sold in a beautiful combination of red and white colour with golden alloy wheels. Undoubtedly it looks delicious instantly; making one crave for owing it.

For now, Yamaha's focus remains on the existing products which include the FZ-Fi, Fascino 125 scooter, etc. The R15-M sports bike is still available in the regular version and currently it is sold at Rs 1.86 lakhs pan India.
