Renault Duster
The 2026 Renault Duster is a rugged midsize SUV aimed at buyers looking for a tough, go-anywhere alternative in a segment dominated by more urban-focused rivals. It immediately stands out for its robust build and strong all-terrain capability, while also offering a well-equipped cabin and comfortable ride that enhance everyday usability. The overall package feels rugged yet well-rounded. That said, it may not feel as premium in terms of cabin finish as some of its rivals. Overall, the 2026 Renault Duster makes the most sense for buyers prioritising durability, versatility, and capability without compromising on modern features.
Renault Duster Latest Update
Last Updated on 27th Jan'26: The Renault Duster is an upcoming mid-size SUV scheduled to be launched in March 2026. For now, bookings are open, and all the necessary information about the SUV has been revealed. This marks the return of the Duster, a model that was highly popular in India in the last decade.
Design: The all-new Duster has a very bold and imposing design. It appears to be a muscular and off-road ready kind of vehicle, with all its proportions. High ground clearance of 212 mm reinforces its off-road intent rather than just visual SUV appeal.
Best-in-segment approach (26.9) and departure (34.7) angles underline its functional design philosophy. The trapezoidal front grille with the Duster emblem and yellow accents adds distinctiveness without excess flair. Full LED headlamps and tail lamps bring the design in line with modern segment expectations. The horizontal LED rear light bar visually enhances width and improves night-time visibility. Prominent wheel arches, side cladding, and door protection panels emphasise durability over ornamentation. 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels strike a balance between premium appeal and rugged character. Mountain Jade Green, inspired by Himalayan landscapes, offers a unique yet tasteful colour option.Dual-tone roof and spoiler subtly elevate the SUV’s upmarket positioning. Overall, the design prioritises authenticity and capability over aggressive styling trends.
Interior & Comfort: Fighter-jet-inspired, driver-centric cockpit prioritises ergonomics and ease of use. High-quality leatherette, yellow stitching, and carbon accents elevate cabin appeal. Ventilated and electrically adjustable front seats are there, which now have become a standard feature set across this segment. The panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting enhance cabin openness and ambience, and are also among the most favoured features for Indian buyers. The new Duster features a dual-screen setup, consisting of a 10.25-inch TFT driver display and a 10.1-inch OpenR Link touchscreen, improving information access and visibility. OpenR Link with Google built-in offers native Google Maps, Google Play, and voice assistance, reducing reliance on smartphone connectivity. The system supports seamless entertainment streaming and access to 100+ compatible apps via the Play Store. Map replication on the driver display enhances navigation clarity by keeping route guidance within the driver’s line of sight. With 60+ connected features via the MYR app, the Duster enables enhanced remote access and vehicle monitoring. The inclusion of 17 ADAS features adds a comprehensive layer of active safety, especially beneficial during highway driving.
Practicality: Large boot capacity (up to 700L) makes the Duster well suited for family usage, airport runs, and long road trips, reducing the need for compromises on luggage. 7-year / 150,000 km warranty under the Renault Forever programme significantly improves long-term peace of mind and lowers ownership anxiety, especially for buyers planning extended usage. A wide range of accessories and the YouClip modular system allow owners to personalise storage and utility as per daily or adventure needs, enhancing real-world usability rather than just cosmetic appeal.
Powertrain & Performance: The new Duster will be offered with a Strong Hybrid petrol powertrain, confirmed for India and scheduled for launch around Diwali 2026.
This hybrid system combines a 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine (109 hp) with a 49 hp electric motor and a 20 hp hybrid starter generator (HSG). Power is supplied by a 1.4 kWh (280V) battery, resulting in a combined system output of 160 hp and 172 Nm.
The hybrid setup focuses on higher fuel efficiency and quieter city driving, positioning it against strong-hybrid rivals from Maruti and Toyota. Turbo TCe 160 is the enthusiast-focused option, using a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol (GDi) engine that delivers 163 PS and 280 Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed wet-clutch DCT, combining strong performance with everyday usability. Lastly, there is a 1.0L turbo petrol engine too, which we have seen in Renault Kiger, making 100 PS and 160 Nm of torque, aimed for everyday drives and mixed-usage. This engine is paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission, keeping costs and complexity in check. Overall, the engine lineup spans efficiency-focused hybrid buyers, performance-oriented users, and value-conscious customers, giving the Duster a broad market appeal.
Launch: Renault will announce the official prices in mid-March 2026, and the new Duster is expected to be priced between Rs 10.50 –11 lakh till Rs 21 lakh (ex-showroom), aligning it with its petrol and strong-hybrid rivals. Customer deliveries of the turbo-petrol variants will begin in April 2026, while the Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 is scheduled to reach customers later in the year, around Diwali 2026, enabling Renault to phase its rollout in line with powertrain demand.

Renault Duster Detailed Review
- The new Renault Duster features a bold, upright SUV design with a boxy stance, giving it a much stronger road presence than the older model. It gets a chunky front grille with prominent ‘DUSTER’ lettering, LED DRLs, and a muscular bumper that adds to its rugged appeal. Although it doesn’t come with a 4x4 drivetrain in India, it certainly looks like a proper off-roader.
- Along the sides, the Duster rides on large 18-inch alloy wheels and gets squared wheel arches with heavy body cladding. The high ground clearance of 212 mm and roof rails further enhance its proper SUV character.
- Lower variants offer - 17 inch alloy wheels, with less-chrome inserts, and with that too it looks bold.
At the rear, it comes with connected LED tail lamps with a shaped signature, a sculpted tailgate and a rugged bumper with skid plate elements, completing its modern yet tough exterior design. - The 2026 Renault Duster is offered in six colours - Mountain Jade Green, Pearl White, Moonlight Silver, Stealth Black, Sunset Red and River Blue - with availability varying by variant. While White, Silver and Green are widely available in single-tone, Red and Blue are mostly limited to higher trims with dual-tone (black roof) options. Overall, the range mixes subtle shades with sportier finishes, with dual-tone options adding a more premium look.
