Renault Duster Hybrid Bookings Start At Rs 21,000

The Renault Duster Hybrid, the upcoming fuel-efficient version of the Duster, is now open for bookings, with the brand accepting orders for a amount of Rs 21,000. This version of the Duster will launch on October 17 in Mumbai, and we expect it to be priced between Rs 19 lakh and Rs 19.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Renault Duster Hybrid: Engine And Power Output

The Renault Duster Hybrid will get a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with two electric motors. One motor works as a generator and produces 20 hp, while the second delivers 49 hp and drives the front wheels. The system also uses a 1.4 kWh battery pack to support electric driving. On top of this, the power from the 1.8-litre engine is also available.

The combined system output stands at 160 hp and 172 Nm of torque. This setup is designed to improve fuel efficiency, particularly in city traffic, where the SUV can rely on electric power for a significant portion of the drive.

Renault Duster Hybrid: How Does The Gearbox Work?

The gearbox is another key difference between the Duster Hybrid and its rivals. Renault will equip the SUV with an automatic transmission featuring fixed gears. The system switches between electric and petrol power depending on driving conditions, and drivers may notice gear changes during acceleration.

In comparison, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Victoris and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder use e-CVT transmissions. These systems manage the interaction between the petrol engine and electric motors through a power-split mechanism rather than a conventional stepped gearbox. The Toyota Innova Hycross Hybrid uses a similar type of system.

This makes the Duster's hybrid setup different from the systems currently used by its main rivals in India.

Renault Duster Hybrid Mileage?

We now have the claimed fuel efficiency figure for the Renault Duster Hybrid, which stands at 29 kmpl. This is higher than the 27.97 kmpl claimed by the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
