2020 Ampere Magnus Pro Electric Scooter Launched in India - Details
A few days ago, we shared with you that Ampere Vehicles has teased its new upcoming electric scooter. The upcoming electric scooter was teased by the company on its social media handles and official website. The company teased it as Extra-Cetra and hinted that the new E-scooter will offer extra performance, extra safety as well as extra comfort. Today, Ampere Vehicles has finally launched this new electric scooter in the country and as per our prediction, it is called the Ampere Magnus Pro. In this article, we will be telling you everything you need to know about the 2020 Ampere Magnus Pro Electric Scooter.

First of all, let me give you a brief introduction about Ampere Vehicles. So, it is a Tamil Nadu-based electric vehicle start-up headquartered in Coimbatore. The company was founded back in 2008 and it has more than a decade experience in the E-mobility space. Ampere Electric Vehicles by Greaves Cotton (an Indian engineering company) is one of Indias leading Electric Mobility manufacturer. It specializes in delivering affordable mobility solutions for the last mile. Also, till date, the company has sold more than 60,000 Ampere Electric Scooters in India.
Now, talking about the new Ampere Magnus Pro, it is an updated version of the Magnus Lead-acid Low-speed Electric scooter. It is now the company's flagship scooter in India which boasts of plenty of features and a good riding range too. Starting with the design, the new Ampere Magnus Pro sports the same silhouette as the Magnus 60 E-scooter. It looks like a conventional petrol-powered scooter and is very practical to use. Upfront, it gets a new all-LED headlamp and lots of chrome accents which enhance its appeal. The Magnus Pro electric scooter is offered in four funky colour shades. These are Bluish Pearl White, Graphite Black, Metallic Red and Golden Yellow.

Ampere has updated its powertrain too and now it gets a more powerful electric motor. The battery pack also has been upgraded and instead of a lead-acid battery in the Magnus, the new Magnus Pro features a lithium-ion battery. Powering this new electric scooter is a hub-mounted 1.2kW electric motor. It can sprint from 0-40 kmph in under 10 seconds and has a top speed of 55 kmph. The electric scooter features a removable 60-volt 30Ah advanced lithium-ion battery and it gets riding modes too. The company claims that the new electric scooter will deliver 100 kilometres of range in Eco mode while in the Cruise mode it will run around 75-80 kilometres on a full charge.
Ampere claims that once the batteries of the Magnus Pro electric scooter is drained, it can be fully juiced up in around 5 to 6 hours via a regular charger. However, the company also says that a fast charging option is available. Ampere Vehicles promises that it is the best-in-class powertrain in the electric scooter's commuter segment. The company also claims that it is the lightest vehicle in its category with the highest power-to-weight ratio. Though the weight of the E-scooter hasn't been revealed, the company claims that it has a maximum loading capacity of 150 kilograms.

Talking about other specifications, the Magnus Pro electric scooter measures 1880 mm in length, 710 mm in width and 1190 mm in height. It gets a wheelbase of 1415 mm and offers a ground clearance of 150 mm, which is more than enough to tackle bad roads. The scooter gets telescopic front forks and spring-loaded dual shock absorbers at the rear for improved handling and rideability. The braking duties are handled by 130 mm drum brake at both the ends and it also gets combined braking system (CBS) with regenerative braking as an additional safety aid.
Being a flagship scooter from a company, the Ampere Magnus Pro gets a host of features. It gets a LED headlamp, an all-digital instrument cluster with blue backlit and is loaded with lots of information. It also gets a long comfortable seat, a deep under-seat storage space with an LED light, USB charging, etc. The E-scooter also features remote keyless entry and anti-theft alarm. Ampere has also included a new feature called Limp Home. What it does is that the Limp home feature offers an extra 10 kilometres of range when only 10 per cent juice is left in the scooter.

Talking about price, the new 2020 Ampere Magnus Pro Electric Scooter is priced at Rs. 73,900, Ex-showroom Bengaluru. The bookings for the E-scooter has commenced from today and one can pre-book it by paying a token amount of 2,999 rupees. Currently, Ampere Vehicles and Greaves Cotton have over 400 showrooms in the country. However, as of now, the Magnus Pro electric scooter has been launched only in Bengaluru. Ampere says that it will gradually expand the availability of the Magnus Pro in other cities in the next 30 to 60 days. The company claims that it has a running cost of 15 paise/kilometre. Also, the company is offering 3 years/ 20,000 kilometres standard warranty on the battery of the electric scooter.
