2020 Jawa and Jawa Forty Two BS6 Officially Launched; Price Starts at Rs 1.60 Lakhs

Jawa Motorcycles is an Iconic brand in the Indian Motorcycling History. The Jawa-branded motorcycles were first introduced in India in the 1960s and in no time, it became highly popular. The Jawa's were known for their classic design language, retro-charm and dual exhausts with a signature thump. However, the company stopped production in the year 1996. Fast forward to 2018, the Jawa fans rejoiced as the brand made a comeback in India in 2018 with two products: Jawa and Jawa Forty Two. Jawa Motorcycles is now owned by Classic Legends (a subsidiary of Mahindra Group). Today, the company has officially launched the new 2020 Jawa and Jawa Forty Two BS6 in India. The prices of the BS6 Jawa starts at Rs. 1.60 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi.

The Bharat Stage VI models of the Jawa and the Jawa Forty Two produce slightly less power and torque compared to the BS4 counterpart and also they are now heavier than before. Both motorcycles use the same powertrain. The 2020 Jawa and Jawa Forty Two are powered by a BS6-compliant 293cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine. This engine now churns out 26.51 PS of power and 27.05 Nm of torque. For reference, the BS4 versions used to deliver 27.37 PS of power and 28 Nm of torque. Both the motorcycles come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Also, the BS6 Jawas feature India's first cross port technology on a motorcycle.
This cross-port system has helped the Jawa motorcycles to retain their characteristic twin exhaust identity and meet emission standards while retaining almost similar power and torque figures. Talking about their weight, the BS4 Jawa models used to weigh 170 kilograms but with the BS6 update, the weight has increased by 12 kilograms. The BS6 Jawa siblings are now quite heavier than before, weighing 182 kilograms. The motorcycles have an inherent retro charm and gets a round headlamp, wide handlebars and muscular fuel tank. The suspension duties are handled by chunky telescopic front forks while at the rear, they get twin gas-charged shock absorbers.

The braking duties on these Jawa Motorcycles are performed by a front disc brake while at the rear one can opt between a drum or a disc unit. The motorcycles are available in both single-channel ABS as well as dual-channel ABS versions. The Jawa gets a lot of chrome accents and metallic shades while the Jawa Forty Two features a matte look and has a sporty character. Both the motorcycles are offered in a plethora of colours and the prices differ based on the colour variant you choose. The 2020 Jawa Standard is priced between Rs. 1.73 lakhs - Rs. 1.83 lakhs while the Jawa Forty Two costs Rs. 1.60 lakhs - Rs. 1.74 lakhs. All prices stick to Ex-showroom Delhi.
