2020 Maruti Vitara Brezza Launched From Rs 7.34 lakh

Maruti has officially launched the new, updated Vitara Brezza in India. Prices start at Rs 7.34 lakh and the 2020 Maruti Vitara Brezza will only be available with a 1.5-litre petrol engine. It will be mated to both a 5 speed manual as well as a 4 speed automatic. This BS6 compliant car was first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.

The 2020 Maruti Vitara Brezza comes with a host of changes in and out. We will start with the engine first - Maruti will stop offering diesel engines from the 1st of April and this means the Brezza will no more be offered with the older 1.3 unit. Instead, it now gets the 1.5 petrol that is also seen in the XL6, Ertiga and the Ciaz. This engine is good for 105 bhp of power and will also come with Maruti's mild hybrid set-up. As compared to the AGS / AMT seen on the diesel Brezza, the petrol model will come with a proper torque converter - this is the same 'box that is also seen on the XL6 and the Ciaz.

In terms of 'kitna deti hai', the manual version comes with a rated economy of 17.03 kmpl whereas the automatic gets a figure of 18.76 kmpl. This is down to the fact that the A/T Brezza comes with a mild hybrid set-up, something that is missing on the manual one. The assist from the electric motor definitely comes handy here.

The 2020 Maruti Vitara Brezza also gets cosmetic changes on the outside. These include a new design for the alloy wheels, tweaked headlamps, a new grille and distinctive looking LED tail lights. The Brezza will continue to be offered with an optional dual tone colour. On the inside, Maruti has shuffled around with the feature list and even the base and mid-level versions get added kit. Infact, the VXi AT, priced at Rs 9.75 lakh, makes the best sense of the lot for urban runs. Do note that Maruti is charging a premium of Rs 1.4 lakh for the automatic as this is a not a low-cost AMT/AGS. This torque converter automatic has minimal lag during gear shifts and feels a lot smoother.
