The 2021 Yamaha R3 has been unveiled for the Japanese market. Will it come back to India this time around. Read our article to find out.
The 2021 Yamaha R3 will go on sale in Japan from 15th January 2021 and will be priced at JPY 687,500 which converts to INR 4.89 lakh. Yamaha aims to sell 3700 units of these bikes annually in the Japanese market.
The changes to the 2021 Yamaha R3 are limited to the colour revisions. Everything else remains similar to its predecessor. Colour options for the model year 2021 include Cyan Metallic, Deep Purplish Blue Metallic, and Matte Dark Grey. Most of these changes have made their way to FZ-25 as well.

The bike continues to pack features such as a twin-pod LED headlight, an LED taillight, a muscular design, clip-on handlebar, full-fairing setup, digital instrument cluster, and a step-up seat setup.
The R3 continues to be powered by the same engine as seen on the previous model. The 321cc, liquid-cooled parallel-twin-cylinder engine produces 41bhp peaking at 10,750rpm and a peak torque of 29Nm at 9,000rpm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.

The Yamaha R3 was sold in the country till the time BS4 emission norms were in place. The bike had managed to carve out a niche and in turn, gain a fixed set of customers in the country. However, once the BS6 norms came into existence Yamaha discontinued the bike and has maintained the status quo since then. If launched in the BS6 guise, the R3 will go up against the TVS RR310, KTM RC390
