Ducati Panigale V2

At first glance, the 2025 Ducati Panigale V2 continues to carry the unmistakable Ducati design language, aggressive yet elegant. Drawing inspiration from the flagship Panigale V4, it features sleek, aerodynamic bodywork, full-LED lighting, and sculpted panels that enhance both airflow and aesthetics. The single Ducati Red livery remains the only option for now. The standard V2 comes in a dual-seat configuration, while the sportier V2 S gets a dedicated single-seat setup for a purer track appeal. A redesigned rear section with underseat exhausts and a monolithic tail gives the motorcycle a clean, purposeful look. Despite these updates, Ducati has managed to trim down weight, and the V2 tips the scales at 179kg (dry) and the V2 S at 175kg, making it the lightest Panigale ever produced.

Built on a monocoque aluminium frame, the 2025 Panigale V2 base model is equipped with a 43mm Marzocchi USD fork and a Kayaba monoshock, both fully adjustable. The premium V2 S variant gets a full Ohlins setup, NIX30 forks, and a TTX36 rear shock, providing superior feedback on track and road alike. Braking performance comes from Brembo M50 monobloc calipers with dual 320mm front discs and a 245mm rear disc. The bike rides on Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres, with a 120-section front and a 190-section rear for exceptional grip. With an 837mm seat height and 15-litre fuel tank, it strikes a balanced stance for both spirited rides and weekend tours.

Ducati has packed the 2025 Panigale V2 with its latest suite of electronic rider aids, powered by a six-axis IMU. Riders get access to Cornering ABS, Traction Control, Wheelie Control, Engine Brake Control, and Slide Control, along with Ducati Quick Shift 2.0. Four riding modes, Race, Sport, Road, and Wet, allow for custom-tailored performance based on conditions. The 5-inch full-TFT display provides real-time data, including lean angles, lap times, and engine stats. The V2 S variant also adds launch control and a pit limiter as standard, underscoring its circuit-ready nature, whereas the lighting is all-LED, and auto-off indicators add a touch of convenience to its otherwise purpose-driven cockpit.

Engine & Performance: New 890cc V-Twin for Everyday Thrills

Powering the 2025 Panigale V2 is Ducatis all-new 890cc, 90-degree V-twin engine, replacing the older 955cc Superquadro motor. This new unit produces 120bhp at 10,750rpm and 93.3Nm of torque at 8,250rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox featuring an assist-and-slipper clutch and bidirectional quickshifter.

While power output is down from the previous model, Ducati says this engine prioritises rideability and real-world performance over outright aggression. It's also more efficient and easier to maintain, thanks to a switch from the brand's iconic Desmodromic valves to conventional spring-operated ones. Service intervals are now extended, oil every 15,000km or 24 months, and valve clearance checks at 45,000km, significantly reducing running costs.

With the new pricing starting at Rs 19.12 lakh, the 2025 Panigale V2 is Rs 1.56 lakh more affordable than its predecessor. The reduced price and friendlier ergonomics position it directly against rivals like the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, Aprilia RS 660, Yamaha YZF-R9, and the upcoming KTM 990 RC R.

Verdict

The 2025 Ducati Panigale V2 proves that performance doesn't always need to be intimidating. By focusing on weight reduction, usability, and a more approachable power delivery, Ducati has crafted a middleweight supersport that delivers the thrill of the track with the practicality of everyday riding. It might have shed some power, but it has gained far more in refinement, comfort, and value. For riders craving that unmistakable Ducati essence in a more manageable form, the new Panigale V2 and V2 S offer the perfect gateway into Bologna's superbike world.
