Hi, I'm Tejen. I was born and brought up in a small town of Haryana. However, from the day of my birth and until now, I've always lived around cars and motorcycles. More than passion, the automotive world is my only lifestyle. It's the connection to the vehicle that delivers me peace. However, when it comes to a choice; my instinct leads me towards motorcycles.

Bajaj Qute To Make Comeback In BS6 Avatar, EV Version Also On Its Way

Bajaj Qute was launched a few years back in the domestic market. Bajaj will relaunch the Qute with the BS6 engine soon in India along with an EV version.

Bajaj's little adventure of making a passenger car did not go well as we know. The Bajaj Qute made its appearance a few years back in India. The main target of this car was to uplift the three-wheeler owners and drivers to the four-wheels. Now, Bajaj is bringing back the Qute with a BS6-compliant engine in India soon.

Bajaj Qute Comeback Details

Speaking of the comeback, the new car is currently under development. As per the Executive Director of Bajaj Auto Limited (BAL), Mr. Rakesh Sharma, the car will soon see its daylight. As per the official statement passed, the car is currently under the rood of ARAI for homologation. The testing phase is about to begin and the car will soon hit the roads; maybe by the end of 2022 itself.

Bajaj Qute

The Qute was powered by a rear-wheel drive engine 216cc, a single-cylinder engine. The peak power it made was 13 hp and the peak torque stood at 18.9 Nm. The new Qute is also expected to use the same engine with newly refined technology.

Bajaj discontinued the Qute back in 2020 because of the stricter BS6 emission norms. Additionally, back in 2018, it was deemed not to withstand with the safety standards of becoming a passenger car. Hence, the domestic private market could not get the taste of it. Bajaj later one got the approval for the Commercial Vehicle category and hence targeted the Qute as a quadricycle.

Electric Version Details

As per the official statement, the upcoming engine will not only come with a petrol option but also with bi-fuel options. Bajaj will sell the new Qute with CNG as well as LPG options for commercial fleet operators. Additionally, Mr. Sharma claimed that the new EV version of the Qute is also under development. This translates that BAL's intentions to enter the private vehicle segment are not dead yet.

As we speak, Bajaj is getting ahead with its project. We suspect it won't be any time before 2023 that the new Qute sees the daylight. For the EV, we still have no idea when it will debut in India.

Some of the best-selling Bajaj bikes are - Pulsar NS160, CT 110X, Platina.
