Fourth-Gen Skoda Superb Unveiling On November 2; Major Updates

The anticipation for the fourth-generation Skoda Superb is building as the carmaker has officially announced that it will make its global debut on November 2. While details about the interior and powertrain have already been disclosed, Skoda has now provided a first look at the car's exterior through design sketches, adding to the excitement for the upcoming flagship sedan.

4th Gen Skoda Superb Exterior

The fourth-generation Skoda Superb is set to feature a significant exterior redesign, as evident in the sketches released. While specific details are yet to be confirmed, the sketches reveal new, slender daytime running lights and redesigned rear lights. The styling, with slimmer headlights and tail-lights, reflects a smart and contemporary look, aligning it with the design language of the new Kodiaq, which is scheduled to launch around the same time.

The rear retains its distinctive C-shaped tail lamp setup at the rear. However, there's an interesting update in that the individual light elements are now visible from the outside. While the overall design of the boot lip, reflector panels, and bumper remains largely similar, these changes in the tail lamps provide a fresh and modern visual touch.

Interior And Features

Inside, the Superb boasts a new interior with high-quality materials, customizable rotary controllers, an advanced infotainment system, and sustainable materials. The vehicle also features technological innovations, such as three rotary knobs for various functions below the 13-inch touchscreen, four USB-C ports, massage seats, and adjustable lumbar support. On the exterior, the Superb showcases refreshed design elements, including new LED daytime running lights and redesigned rear lights.

Powertrain

The fourth-gen Skoda Superb will offer a variety of powertrain options, including three petrol engines, two diesels, and a new plug-in hybrid. The plug-in hybrid is exclusive to the Combi estate version. All models come with automatic DSG transmissions, with petrol and diesel variants using a 7-speed DSG and the plug-in hybrid employing a 6-speed DSG. Power outputs range from 150 hp for the 1.5-litre petrol with mild-hybrid tech to 265 hp for the 2.0-litre TSI petrol 4x4 version. The 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid generates 204 hp and has an electric range of 100 km.

Indian Launch Soon, But.....

In India, it is the outgoing third-generation Superb that is set to make a comeback. Unofficial bookings have already begun, and it will adhere to the more stringent BS6 Phase II emission norms. Similar to its predecessor, the Superb will be reintroduced through the CBU (Completely Built-Up) route.
