Hyundai Ioniq 5

Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift debuted first in South Korea in 2024, then it was launched in Europe, post it USA as 2025/2026 model - and finally in 2026 India will recieve it. The biggest change in it will be the bigger battery pack of 84 kWh that replaces the 72.6 kWh battery that powers to only rear wheels in this car. Now, the expected range is going to be around 700+ km (WLTP) as the current one has a claimed range of 631 km.

In terms of design, it will feature revised front and rear bumpers, new alloy wheel designs, and the addition of a rear wiper for improved practicality. Inside, the facelift will get Hyundai's latest ccNC infotainment system with updated graphics, improved responsiveness, and enhanced connectivity features. Although, the screen size would be same - dual - 12.3 inches. The EV is also expected to receive improvements to its ADAS suite, updated software, and better ride and efficiency tuning. Despite these changes, the overall silhouette and core mechanical setup will remain largely unchanged, retaining its distinctive retro-futuristic design and rear-wheel-drive configuration.

In European and American markets, the Ioniq 5 is available with an AWD setup, and its sibling, the Kia EV6, is already sold in India with an AWD drivetrain. This means there is a possibility that Hyundai could introduce the same configuration here. Additionally, we do not expect any substantial change in price, and it is likely to launch at around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom), with just one variant on offer.

Verdict
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift brings meaningful upgrades, particularly with the larger battery pack and improved range, along with subtle design and technology enhancements. While the overall package remains familiar, these updates should make it a more practical and competitive premium EV in the Indian market. That said, it is disappointing to see India receiving the facelift much later, when newer updates are already available in developed markets, which makes the rollout feel delayed.
