- Kia introduces Battery-as-a-Service finance program
- Available with Carens Clavis EV
- Battery subscription priced at Rs 3.3/km
- Dual-loan structure lowers upfront ownership cost
- Finance supported by major banking partners
Kia India has just introduced a new Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) finance program for the Kia Carens Clavis EV, aiming to reduce the upfront cost of EV ownership in the country. With this program buyers don't have to pay the full vehicle price in one go, buyers can now finance the battery separately under a dual-loan setup. The new Baas finance program mainly targets buyers who still find EVs expensive to purchase initially. Along with that it also shows how brands are now focusing on making EV ownership easier and more affordable instead of simply launching new products. Kia Carens Clavis EV BaaS: What Changes For Buyers?

The newly introduced BaaS model separates the vehicle chassis and battery into two different finance components. In simple terms, customers will finance the car body and battery individually, which helps lower the upfront purchase amount significantly. Now buyers will not have an instant burden on their pockets while buying the car.
Under this structure:
- Ownership starts from Rs 51,520 down payment
- Battery usage charged at Rs 3.3 per kilometre
- Chassis loan tenure extends up to 60 months
- Battery finance available for up to 96 months
The brand stated that with this move the EV ownership will feel financially closer to ICE vehicles, especially for buyers upgrading from premium MPVs or compact SUVs.
Battery & Range

The core of the Kia Carens Clavis EV remains unchanged, as it continues to be offered with a 42 kWh and a larger 51.4 kWh battery pack. The smaller battery pack has an ARAI range of 404 km on a single charge, while larger delivers a claimed driving range of 490 km per charge. It also supports DC fast charging, allowing the battery to recharge in a relatively short time during longer journeys.
Impact & EV Ecosystem Support

With the new Battery-as-a-Service finance model, Kia India is clearly trying to make EV ownership financially less challenging for first-time electric car buyers. Alongside this, the brand has also focused on addressing one of the biggest concerns around EV ownership, improving the overall charging and support infrastructure in India. That said, with the MyKia apps K-Charge platform, users now get access to more than 15,000 charging points across the country, along with features like live charger tracking, EV route planning, and integrated payment support for public charging stations. Additionally, more than 100 Kia dealerships are equipped with DC fast chargers, while over 267 workshops across India are now prepared for EV servicing and support.
