Bajaj Discover Coming Back As A 125cc Motorcycle? Details

According to reports, Bajaj has two new models in the pipeline. One of them is going to be a 125cc motorcycle, while the other is said to be in the 150-160cc segment. Both these models are said to be in the pipeline for FY 2026. The question is, what could be the possibilities?

One of them is that Bajaj could possibly bring back the Discover brand, which used to be very famous back in the day. However, the bikemaker marred with too much chopping and changing the lineup, which led to its eventual discontinuation. That said, times have changed, and Bajaj could possibly come up with a new strategy focusing on two core models; a 125cc and a 150cc motorcycles, given that there have been a Discover 125 and a Discover 150 in the past.

However, the bikemaker could also go in another direction and re-launch the Platina 125; a rare motorcycle that was on sale only for a few years before getting discontinued in 2011. The Platina 125 could be a great option for customers given the kind of recall the Platina enjoys today, and it could also be a good way for Bajaj to round off its lineup in this segment.

The Pulsar NS150 seems like a stronger possibility.

In the 150cc segment, the Discover 150 looks a bit less likely, considering Bajaj's plan to introduce more Pulsar models all the way to FY 2026. The original Pulsar 150 also continues to be quite popular even today. However, it will be interesting to see if Bajaj goes forward with a Discover 150, which will only give the customers more options to choose from. The Pulsar P150 was rather short-lived, and it is unlikely to come back. Alternatively, a Pulsar NS150 also seems like a strong possibility.

Bajaj is unwilling to give up on KTM just yet

The Indian bikemaker currently offers four different motorcycles in the 125cc segment. There is the Pulsar NS125, for fans of the NS series on a budget, along with the Pulsar 125, which offers the familiar Pulsar design that continues to be popular. There is also the new Pulsar N125, which is a worthy rival to performance commuters such as the TVS Raider and the Hero Xtreme 125R, targeted towards a younger, more performance-oriented crowd. Lastly, there is the Freedom 125, which aims to offer frugality with its CNG powertrain. Meanwhile, the 150-160cc segments, Bajaj has the Pulsar N150, the N160, the NS160, and the classic Pulsar 150 as well.

Verdict

It remains to be seen what steps Bajaj takes as it looks to gain a larger piece of the 125cc and the 150cc motorcycle segments. The introduction of new models is certainly one interesting way to raise up some interest in the brand, and we feel that is the direction Bajaj should try out.
