Maharashtra EV Policy 2025- No Registration Tax, Expressway Tolls, & More

Under the Maharashtra EV Policy 2025, the state continues to waive motor vehicle tax and registration fees for all EVs, maintaining financial ease for buyers. In a major push for clean mobility, the policy also introduces toll-free travel for four-wheeled passenger EVs and electric buses on key expressways like the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, Samruddhi Mahamarg, and Atal Setu. Additionally, EV buyers can avail of a 10% price concession on electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, and buses. Electric goods carriers, tractors, and farm equipment benefit even more, with a 15% subsidy. The government has earmarked subsidies of up to Rs. 10,000 for 1 lakh electric two-wheelers and up to Rs. 1.5 lakh for 10,000 electric passenger cars, reinforcing its commitment to driving EV adoption in the state.
Impetus On Charging Infrastructure Across State

The Maharashtra EV Policy 2025 places a strong emphasis on expanding charging infrastructure to support rising EV adoption. It mandates charging stations every 25 km along state and national highways and requires all government parking lots to have at least one EV charger. New residential buildings must include a community charging point, while 50% of parking in new commercial buildings and 20% in existing ones must be EV-ready. In FY 2024-25, Maharashtra accounted for 12.52% of India's EV sales, with 246,221 units sold. The state led the country in sales of electric two-wheelers, passenger cars, SUVs, and commercial EVs, including a 21% year-on-year growth in electric passenger vehicles.
