Variant Recommendation
We don't recommend the Base S variant of the Scorpio Classic because it lacks most features, making it an overly basic option. Although the S11 variant offers more features than the base model, its higher price doesn't seem justified. However, if you prioritize a large SUV with 7 seats over features, this might suit your needs.
Pros & Cons of Mahindra Scorpio Classic
Mahindra Scorpio Classic Detailed Review
- The Mahindra Scorpio, a familiar sight on our roads, remains a popular choice for those seeking a robust SUV with a rugged appearance. Sporting a boxy design, the Scorpio features a prominent chrome-accented front grille and headlights with a modern projector style and integrated LED daytime running lights. The updated front bumper includes a central air intake vent, fog lights, and a functional hood scoop for improved air intake, complemented by a silver-coated skid plate.
- With wide wheel arches accommodating 17-inch alloy wheels, the side profile of the SUV is enhanced by distinctive lines and wrinkles, giving it a chiseled appearance admired by SUV enthusiasts. Roof rails contribute to its SUV-like aesthetics, while stylish black side footboards provide both flair and convenience for passengers entering or exiting the vehicle.
- The SUV's rear section boasts a distinctive design featuring LED taillights and a roof-integrated spoiler. A rugged appearance is achieved with the skid plate-like cladding, aero blade wiper, and chrome elements.
- The interior of the Scorpio maintains the sleek design seen on the exterior. The dashboard, with its textured grey-black finish, remains upright and compact. Bright colors are strategically used, creating a more spacious and airy cabin. Positioned in the dashboard is a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
- Inside, the Scorpio offers luxurious imitation leather upholstery, providing a comfortable and stylish atmosphere. The well-padded seats, including a height-adjustable driver seat, contribute to a cozy ride. The multi-spoke steering wheel features audio controls for the driver's convenience. Increasing practicality, the cabin incorporates numerous storage spaces, including cubbyholes in the floor console and additional storage in the center.
- Loaded with features, the interior includes anti-pinch windows, electronically adjustable ORVM controls, and an automatic roll-up function for the driver-side window when the vehicle is locked. Regarding the seating, they offer satisfactory comfort. The second-row seats provide decent under-thigh support and ample legroom. However, the third row presents a different scenario. Extended travel in the third row may lead to discomfort due to minimal legroom and under-thigh support.
- The Mahindra Scorpio features an enhanced suspension system, offering reduced body roll compared to its predecessor. Although there is still noticeable movement when the car turns corners, especially at higher speeds, the increased rigidity of the suspension smooths out minor road imperfections at lower speeds. The Scorpio showcases excellent high-speed stability, providing a firm and secure feel on the road.
- Thanks to the engine's improved refinement, noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels are significantly lower, ensuring minimal impact on the cabin. Despite the increased braking power, there are occasional instances where the brakes may feel a bit soft and spongy.
- At slower speeds, the steering offers adequate feedback. In contrast to its predecessors, the Scorpio feels more nimble and responsive at higher speeds, instilling confidence in the driver.
- The Scorpio Classic comes equipped with a 2.2-liter diesel engine, delivering 130 bhp of power and 300 Nm of torque. This engine is notably lighter by 55 kg and exhibits a 14% improvement in fuel efficiency compared to its predecessor.
- The manual transmission has been upgraded to feature a new 6-speed cable shift, substantially enhancing the overall driving experience.
