The shortage of semiconductor chips on a global basis is not new information and because of that, the production of cars is happening at a slower rate than before. So much so that the end-user has to wait for months because of the delayed production. One such example is of the recently launched Mahindra XUV700 which sets a waiting period of as high as twenty months for some of the variants. To curb this hit in the market, Mahindra is expected to launch a new AX7 Smart variant of the XUV700 and in this article, we will be sharing the list of features, engine options and its price.
As per the reports on the internet, the Smart variant will be the second to top variant and will sit below the AX7 Luxury pack of the Mahindra XUV700. Mahindra XUV700 Smart trim is expected to cost Rs 80,000 less than the top variant, AX7 Luxury, and will also lose out on most of the features.
These features include adaptive cruise control, wireless charging, electronic parking brake, blind view monitor, knee airbag, electric smart door handles, passive keyless entry, hill hold assist, driver drowsiness detection and more.

However, even with losing these top of the line features, the AX7 Smart Variant of the Mahindra XUV700 will be fairly equipped with a 360-degree camera, 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, a dual-pane sunroof, automatic headlights with cornering function, six airbags, ABS with EBD and ESP, 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and more.
Mechanically, there will be made no changes and the XUV700 Smart variant will get both 2.0L mStallion petrol and 2.2L diesel unit. The former generates as much as 197 bhp of power on tap with a peak torque of 380 Nm. The oil burner is a tried and tested unit and now generates 182 bhp on tap with a maximum torque of 420 Nm. A 6-speed manual gearbox is observed as standard on both the engines and they also get a 6-speed auto as an option. The diesel automatic produces 450 Nm of peak torque.
