Mahindra has increased the priced of their popular SUVs, XUV700 and Thar. The petrol versions of the XUV700 see a price hike of Rs 71,000 for some of the variants while the diesel is the most expensive at Rs 78,000. Similarly, Thar sees a price hike of Rs 51,000 for some of its models. It should be noted that both the vehicles are high in demand but the deliveries are happening at a slower rate because of the shortage of semiconductor chips.

The diesel motor is a tried and tested 2.2L mHawk unit that is seen on the XUV500, Thar and Scorpio. However, this one is retuned and now puts up 153 bhp of power and 360 Nm peak torque for lower variants while the higher variants get 182 bhp of power and 420 Nm of maximum torque. For the automatic variants, the peak torque sticks to 450 Nm.

The petrol engine of Mahindra XUV700 is a 2.0L mStallion motor that is the most powerful in the segment. It generates as much as 198 bhp of power with a peak torque of 380 Nm. It gets mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard along with an optional 6-speed AT.
The prices of other Mahindra SUVs too now command a premium. The Scorpio is expensive by Rs 47,674 for some of the variants, Bolero Neo by Rs 44,954, XUV300 by Rs 39,833 and Bolero by Rs 32,703. Their flagship SUV, Alturas G4 gets the least price hike of just Rs 3,150.
