Mercedes-Benz India has issued yet another recall - the sixth one in 2025 alone - affecting 30 units comprising the S-Class, EQS Sedan, GLC, and AMG SL 55, due to a potential fire risk caused by a rewiring problem in the fuse boxes. Specifically, the recall listing on SIAM's website states..- "It has been identified that the fuse boxes might not have been reworked correctly. As a result, systems connected to the fuse might fail, and the vehicle might lose its propulsion without prior warning, and the restraint functions or the instrument cluster might also be impaired, increasing the risk of a crash and injuries. Under such specific circumstances, a potential risk of a thermal incident in the vehicle cannot be excluded"
So, the risk is huge as the system connected to the fuse boxes might stop working even in the middle of the driving, which can lead to the car losing power without any instructions and failing in the middle resulting in any miss happening.

Talking about the models affected - a total of 16 units of EQS Sedan, 9 of S-Class (Maybach), 3 GLC and 2 AMG SL. As usual, this German luxury car maker will call the owners individually and get their cars fixed, free of cost. In the past, there have been several recalls related to ECU and fuel injection failure.

Verdict
This will be the sixth recall from a pioneer in luxury brands, which is not good from a reputational standpoint. A person paying over a crore does not expect their car to behave in such a manner. The good part is that the company has identified the issue itself and will fix it free of charge. However, incidents like these have a negative impact on consumers' minds and can create doubt regarding future purchasing decisions.
