Maruti Suzuki launched the Maruti Zen in the year 1993 and the car soon became one of the highest-selling cars in the brand's portfolio. The Zen was agile, powerful, and very fun to drive which made it a favourite choice for the youngsters. Later, in the year 2003, the brand launched the limited edition Zen with a 2-door layout. The car was available in two variants - Carbon Black and Steel Silver. With limited units on offer, both these models were sold out in no time. Here is a modified Maruti Suzuki Zen Steel which now makes more than 170 hp!

To start with, the car is powered by a fully forged 1.3-L G13 Race engine that delivers a little more than 170 hp @ 7800 RPM. This engine is mated to a close-ratio gearbox with a limited-slip differential to effectively channelise the power to the wheels. This engine is controlled by an R200 Standalone ECU with revised wiring layout.

To further boost the performance output, the car features a BMC Carbon intake system with a cold-air intake setup. Apart from this, The stock brakes of the cars have been replaced with a larger brake system with split bias. The also features 14-inch wheels wrapped in MRF competition tyres.

This modified Maruti Suzuki Zen Steel also gets reinforced bespoke chassis, revised subframe, all new suspension from Geometry, custom body kit, and a roll-cage with multi-point mount. Other performance mods made to the car include an upgraded fuel system with higher flow and Exedy Race clutch with an aluminium flywheel.
