Renault is also working on a smaller SUV, widely referred to as the Renault Mini Duster, which will compete in the highly competitive sub-4 metre compact SUV segment. Upcoming Renault Mini Duster: New Details Ahead Of Its Preview

Renault's upcoming compact SUV will first appear in concept form as the Bridger Concept, which is expected to showcase the company's next design direction for emerging markets. The concept will likely provide a close preview of the styling and overall character of the production model. Internally referred to as the RB3-K2 B-SUV, the production version is expected to carry strong visual cues inspired by the larger Duster. This has led to the popular nickname Mini Duster, as the new SUV is expected to share the rugged design philosophy associated with the iconic nameplate.

The model is likely to be positioned between the Renault Kiger and the upcoming Duster, helping Renault cover a broader portion of the SUV market, which happens to be the sub-4 meter category.

Wide Range of Powertrain Options

One of the most interesting aspects of the upcoming Mini Duster could be its diverse powertrain lineup. Renault is reportedly planning to offer multiple engine and electrified options and is expected to feature a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, similar to the unit used in several Renault models. In addition, the company may introduce a new 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which could serve as the entry-level option. Apart from conventional petrol engines, Renault is also exploring electrified solutions. Reports indicate that the Mini Duster could be offered with a hybrid powertrain, allowing it to compete with newer electrified SUVs entering the market. In addition, Renault may also launch fully electric variants, potentially with two battery pack options, 35 kWh and 55 kWh.

Expected Launch Timeline

Renault plans to introduce the new generation Duster in India first. Following its launch, the brand is expected to expand further into the compact SUV category with the Mini Duster. Industry reports suggest that the sub-4 metre SUV could arrive around 18 months after the Duster's launch, which places its possible debut in 2027, potentially around the festive season. The vehicle is expected to play an important role in increasing Renault's market share in India.

With its broad range of powertrains and variants, the Mini Duster is expected to span a wide price bracket. Early estimates suggest a price range between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the powertrain and variant. This positioning would place the SUV in direct competition with some of the most popular compact SUVs in India.
