Skoda To Launch The 6-Speed Automatic In Rapid By Diwali - Details

As per new reports, Zac Hollis has confirmed that the new Skoda Rapid automatic will be launched in September. It will continue with the same 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine which makes 110 bhp with 175 Nm of peak torque. Skoda Rapid is the most affordable C-segment sedan in its segment.

Skoda Rapid has become the talk of the town, not only in the car enthusiasts group but also among the general public. For those who are inching ahead to buy a sedan but are left with compact sedans only in their budget, Rapid comes to the rescue. At Rs 7.49 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi, Skoda Rapid Ride edition is one of the fruitful mid-size sedans available in the market right now and the good news is we can expect the automatic version by Diwali.

Skoda launched the Rapid with a 1.0-litre, 6-speed manual gearbox but the automatic was missing. The Czech carmaker has decided to go against the DSG transmission and will bring in a 6-speed auto gearbox by Diwali. This will not only help in boosting up the sales but also give the buyers a premium option for the automatic.

According to the tweet shared by Zac Hollis, the automatic trim of BS6 Rapid will be launched within 3-4 months. And to further know if the Rider edition is coming with the 6-speed auto then that will be hinted to the general public in the coming months.

This new 1.0L turbo petrol motor makes as much as 110 bhp with 175 Nm of peak torque. And surprisingly, this engine is more fuel-efficient than the older 1.6L MPI motor. This one gets an ARAI certified mileage of 18.97 km/l. This same motor is used in the Volkswagen Polo 1.0L TSI and its elder sister, Vento. Both the Volkswagen's comes with an automatic gearbox.

Sharing more details as to what's changed cosmetically then this one gets updated alloy wheel design and identical bumper and fog light housing. The outer profile is not changed at all and the same thing goes for the interiors. The well laid dashboard design with a beige and black colour scheme. What's changed is that Style and Monte Carlo editions get an updated 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. They also get green coloured glasses which cuts the UV rays.

Skoda Rapid prices start from Rs 7.49 lakh and the top model fetches till Rs 11.79 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. It is available in five trims - Rider, Ambition, Onyx, Style and Monte Carlo. It competes with Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento, Toyota Yaris and Honda City.
