Kia Carens Facelift: What Will Change?

The spotted test car has an overall silhouette similar to the current model. However, there are subtle design upgrades visible on it. The front gets a redesigned LED headlight setup with a connected light bar above the grille. This light bar will act as a DRL. Also, the bumper appears to be tweaked along with a new grille.

The side profile of the MPV is unchanged but the alloy wheel design is all-new. At the rear, the tailgate is heavily camouflaged but a slight view of taillights hints towards a new setup. We suspect that the bumper will undergo slight design tweaks as well.

The interesting part to notice is the presence of cameras on the ORVMs. These are going to be used for the 360-degree parking system which is absent in the current model. Also, a close look at the front windshield shows a camera and sensor behind the IRVM setup. This indicates that the Carens facelift will get ADAS features. Going by the trend that Kia is following, this can be a Level-2 ADAS.

Carens Facelift Engine and Gearbox Options

Kia Carens Facelift

Kia will unlikely change the engine options on the upcoming facelift. The current model is available with three engine options - two petrol and one diesel. These engine options are further sold with the options of manual, iMT, and automatic transmissions. Being a facelift means the Carens will not undergo hefty changes to its chassis, engine, or mechanical setup.

What we do expect is that Kia can rework the suspension on the Carens. To provide a more planted highway ride, the dampeners can undergo updates. The rest of the car is likely to remain unchanged.

Kia will bring the updated model to India by early 2025. There is also an electric version planned for the Indian market. The Carens EV will launch later in 2025. The expected pricing of the Carens facelift will be around Rs 11-20 lakh. The main rivals of the Carens are the Maruti Suzuki XL6 & Toyota Rumion.

Verdict

Kia Carens was launched in India back in 2022. Since its launch, the MPV has received enormous response from the Indian market. The updated model will bring the mid-life updates required to keep the flair fresh for the new customers. The newer model of Carens will also be safer than the current version.
