VW Taigun Gets TPMS and Engine Idle Start/Stop As Standard; Prices Increased By Four Percent

VW Taigun Gets TPMS and Engine Idle Start/Stop As Standard; Prices Increased By Four Percent

With the rising competition from its rivals, VW has now announced that all variants of the Taigun will now receive a tyre pressure monitoring system and engine idle start/stop feature as a standard fitment. However, with the inclusion of these features, the prices of the Taigun get a hike of 2.5 to 4 percent depending upon the variants.

What's interesting is that the ARAI certified fuel economy figure of the 1.0L TSI motor is now increased. The six-speed manual transmission delivers 19.20 kmpl whereas for the six-speed torque converter it is 17.23 kmpl. Earlier, it was 18.1 kmpl and 16.44 kmpl respectively.

In addition, the performance line which is the more powerful, 1.5L TSI motor now gets wild cheery red colour decor only with the wild cherry red colour whereas all the other colour schemes get armur grey glossy decor inserts. Also, right from May 2, VW has increased the prices of Taigun and Tiguan by 2.5 to 4% depending upon the variants. They cited the reason being the rise in input costs.

Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, At Volkswagen, our priority is to offer our customers a comprehensive and value for money proposition. With these product enhancements on the made in the Volkswagen Taigun, it will offer our customers added comfort, improved fuel efficiency and a heightened drive experience.

In other news, VW is all set to launch the Virtus in June this year. This car will target the buyers of Skoda Slavia, fifth-gen Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna. It will be available in both 1.0L TSI and 1.5L TSI like the Taigun with identical power figures.
