2022 Yamaha R3 sports bike is coming back to India. Its newest iteration will launch by Diwali this year with a new BS6 engine and more features.
To all the Yamaha R3 fanatics and lovers out there, the good news has arrived. Yamaha is planning to launch the BS6 version of the 2022 R3 in India soon. The expected debut time lie around the upcoming Diwali festival. The new R3 will bring the latest engine, features, and colour scheme offered internationally.

2022 Yamaha R3 Design & Features
Yamaha launched the R3 in Indian back in 2015. The R3 got a mediocre response in terms of sales due to its high introductory price. Over the time, the pricing just increased and the rivals started to offer better value for money. When the BS6 emission norms ply in India, Yamaha decided to stop the production of R3. The plan was to launch the BS6 version soon, but, due to the pandemic the launch delayed.
Now, as per the reports over the internet, the R3 BS6 is likely to arrive around Diwali. Mind you, Yamaha has recently updated the R3 in 2022 overseas. The newest update has brought some cosmetic and technical changes. While the overall design looks the same, the R3 now is more track-focused. The clip-on handlebars are more aggressively set and the footpegs have been re-adjusted for focused riding posture.
The twin LED headlights have now a bigger air duct in between them; somewhat similar to the R15 V4 or the bigger R7. It is offered in various colour options that include the Racing Blue, Moto GP Anniversory Edition, and even a black colour. The fuel tank is sculpted to give the rider more command on the bike. The rear is high-set with upright exhaust design.
The console is large and easy to read. It is fully digital and offers all the necessary information to the rider. Yamaha also offers Bluetooth smartphone connectivity in the new R3. Other design elements include the short windscreen and fairing-attached foldable rear view mirrors.
Engine & Specifications
Yamaha is one of the finest when it comes to engines. The 2022 R3 comes with a BS6 compliant, 321cc, parallel-twin, DOHC engine. This unit is capable of producing peak power of 40.4 hp and 29.4 Nm of peak torque. This power is delivered to the rear wheel via a 6-speed transmission. It also features a slipper-assist clutch for ease of gear shifts.
Yamaha has equipped the R3 with USD forks at the front and a single preload-ajustable monocross suspension at the rear. Braking duties are done by a 298mm front disc brake and a 220mm rear disc brake. The dual-channel ABS is offered as a standard safety feature.
This particular engine is one of the most beloved among enthusiasts overseas. Yamaha R3 enjoys one of the free-revving engine that can do high speeds and redline cruising all day long with ease. This makes the R3 one of the most well-engineered bikes in the segment.

India Launch, Price, & Rivals
Going by the reports, the launch is expected to take place around Diwali this year. The launch R3 is much-awaited in the two-wheeler industry in India. When the R3 was discontinued, it was being offered at a price of Rs 3.51 lakh ex-showroom. We expect that the new bike will be priced somewhere around Rs 3.75 lakh price mark.
The rivalry constitutes the likes of 2022 KTM RC 390, TVS Apache RR 310, BMW G 310 RR, and Kawasaki Ninja 300.
