While the latest teaser drop showcases the upcoming Force Gurkha 5-door variant in glimpses, the brand has confirmed that the 3-door version will be returning as well. For starters, both versions will largely be the same in exterior visuals, but with some tweaks for a distinct identity, apart from the obvious footprint.

While major chunks will be carried over, the front and rear bumpers are expected to be molded slightly differently. On top of this, the wheelbase on the 5-Door version is 425 mm longer than its smaller sibling. This helps in introducing the extra doors and also the spacing for a 3rd-row seating.

Another thing clear from the taser is the same circular headlamp styling which was earlier speculated to be rectangular, thanks to the spy shots. Both variants will come with LED lighting all around. Moreover, it gets, what looks like 16-inch alloys with the 245/70 R16 profile. The teaser showcases add-ons like a roof rack, rear ladder, jerry cans, etc that are likely to be offered as accessories.

Interior Updates

The cabin of the Gurkha is likely to offer enhanced convenience with features like internally adjustable ORVMs and front seat armrests for comfort during long journeys. A larger infotainment screen, while a new digital instrument cluster integrated with TPMS, and other essential drive-related statistics. Connectivity features include the existing Bluetooth connectivity, USB ports, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay support. HVAC controls, a 12 V socket, and central locking further enhance its versatility and appeal for adventures.

However, the highlight will be the 5-door version which gets an extra door and will come in 5, 6, and 7-seater layouts. It is interesting to note that the 3-door version only comes with a 4-seater layout.

Powertrain

The Gurkha 5-door and 3-door models are anticipated to retain the same 2.6-litre diesel engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. While specific output figures for the engine have not been disclosed, the previous Gurkha 3-door model featured it in a state of tune producing 91hp and 250Nm of torque. However, the 5-door version could get the same mill, but with a re-tuned one for higher output figures.

While the launch is expected to happen in the coming weeks, it will carry a slightly higher price tag. While the 3-door variant was priced at Rs. 15.10 lakhs, it will now be higher than this. The 5-door version on the other hand could retail at a premium of around Rs. 1 lakh- 1.5 lakhs.

Verdict

Going by the looks of it, the Force Gurkha 5-door is all set to take the off-road segment by storm. With increasing demand for rugged SUVs in the country, it seems to hit all the sweet spots. However, it might be able to tread off-roads quite well, but the road to market adoption is more treacherous with the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door being its biggest rodblock when launched.
