Mahindra's most-anticipated SUV launch of 2024 is the 5-Door Thar. It has been on road testing for a long time, and people are looking forward to it. 2024 Mahindra Thar 5-Door: An Off-Road SUV With Luxury Features?
The latest spy shots showcase that the top variants of the upcoming Thar 5-door will get a panoramic sunroof. In fact, test cars have been spied earlier with a single-pane sunroof, hinting that the mid-variants will get a smaller version of the sunroof. Additionally, the top variants will get an ADAS Level 2 safety module as spotted earlier on a few test cars. Mahindra will make sure that the 5-Door version stands apart from the 3-Door version in every way. In fact, these creature comfort features will make it comparable to the family SUVs of this segment.
Moving on, the design cues are similar to the existing Thar but it'll get new highlights. The elements as such LED headlights, a new grille, LED foglights, new LED taillights, and more, will set it apart from the regular Thar. Not to mention, the additional length and captain seats option will step the 5-door version into a league of its own. Moreover, it'll get features like a bigger infotainment screen, a digital console, a new steering wheel, etc., on the inside.
Under the bonnet, Mahindra will continue offering similar powertrains as on the current model. This means that it'll get the options of a 2.2-litre mHawk turbo-diesel with manual and auto gearbox, a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol with a manual and auto gearbox, and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel with a manual gearbox. There will be options for a 4X4 and a 4X2 drivetrain as well, however, the 4X2 would most likely be restricted to the 1.5-litre engine option.
The expected launch of the Thar 5-door will take place around August and the pricing of it will be in the ballpark of Rs 16-22 lakh. There is also a high possibility that Mahindra could badge it the iconic 'Armada' tag. Currently, there are no direct rivals to the 5-Door Thar.
