Bajaj Auto has reintroduced the Avenger 220 Street to the Indian market, bringing back one of its most popular urban cruisers after a brief absence. The motorcycle had quietly reappeared on the brand's official website recently, but its pricing remained under wraps until now, and is introduced without any changes but a slightly higher price. With a starting price of Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom), the Avenger 220 Street returns as a more city-focused alternative to the Avenger 220 Cruise, offering a darker, sportier aesthetic while retaining the easy-going cruiser character that has long defined the Avenger range. Although the motorcycle remains mechanically unchanged, it carries a few notable differences that help distinguish the Street from its touring-oriented sibling. Design: Different From 220 Cruise

The Avenger 220 Street continues to follow the formula that made it popular among urban cruiser enthusiasts. Compared to the chrome-heavy Avenger 220 Cruise, the Street adopts a more understated and sporty appearance with extensive blacked-out elements across the engine, exhaust, and bodywork. One of the most practical changes comes in the form of alloy wheels wrapped in tubeless tyres. Unlike the wire-spoke wheels found on the Cruise variant, the tubeless setup offers greater convenience in the event of a puncture. The Street also gets a revised headlamp design featuring a horizontal LED DRL, lending the motorcycle a more contemporary look.
Other styling differences include fork gaiters, a smaller wind deflector in place of the Cruise's tall windscreen, and a flatter handlebar positioned slightly lower for a more engaging riding posture.
The core Avenger experience remains intact. The motorcycle retains its accessible 737 mm seat height, making it approachable for riders of varying heights and experience levels. The footpeg position remains unchanged, ensuring the relaxed, feet-forward riding stance that cruiser buyers typically prefer. While the lower handlebars alter the rider triangle slightly, the overall comfort-focused nature of the motorcycle remains largely unaffected.
Features And Hardware

The Avenger 220 Street stays true to its simple and functional approach. Equipment includes a basic LCD instrument console, halogen lighting setup, and straightforward switchgear. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers. Braking hardware consists of a front disc and rear drum brake combination, complemented by single-channel ABS for added safety. Interestingly, the Street tips the scales at 163 kg kerb weight, making it approximately 3 kg heavier than the Avenger 220 Cruise.
Engine And Performance
Underneath, the Avenger 220 Street remains mechanically identical to its predecessor. Power comes from a 220cc oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 19 PS and 17.6 Nm, working in conjunction with a 5-speed transmission.
Colours And Pricing
The Avenger 220 Street is available in two colour options of Ebony Black & Cocktail Wine Red. Bajaj has priced the motorcycle at Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it marginally above the Avenger 220 Cruise. Compared to the last time it was on sale in India, the motorcycle now costs over Rs 4,000 more.

Verdict
The return of the Bajaj Avenger 220 Street will be welcomed by riders who appreciated its blend of cruiser comfort and understated styling. While there are no mechanical upgrades to talk about, the combination of tubeless tyres, blacked-out aesthetics, and urban-focused design continues to give it a distinct identity within the Avenger lineup. Notably, this comes soon after the discontinuation of smaller Street 160, marking the end of the 160 platform from this cruiser line-up.
