Hi, I'm Tejen. I was born and brought up in a small town of Haryana. However, from the day of my birth and until now, I've always lived around cars and motorcycles. More than passion, the automotive world is my only lifestyle. It's the connection to the vehicle that delivers me peace. However, when it comes to a choice; my instinct leads me towards motorcycles.

Avenger 220 Street - What's New?

Bajaj Avenger 220 Street

The newly launched 220 Street is basically a combination of the 220 Cruise & the Avenger 160 Street. How so? Well, the underpinnings on it are the same as that of the Cruise 220 but its design is inspired by the 160 Street. Hence, Bajaj has also named it Street. While the Cruise model gets a bigger windscreen and LED lights, the Street version is more basic.

As it copies 160 Street, it gets the same round halogen light and a small flyscreen over it. The Cruiser, on the other hand, comes equipped with a tall windscreen. In terms of features, it gets a single-pod digital instrument console. Meanwhile, Street 160 gets an analog console due to the pricing barrier.

Other design variations include a flattened handlebar that is also taken from the Street 160. Also, the pillion grab rail and the alloy wheels look similar to the 160 Street version. However, to give the buyers a punch, it is based on the similar 220cc air-cooled engine that is used on the Cruise itself. This engine makes a peak power output of 18.77 bhp & 17.55 Nm of peak torque. Additionally, it gets a 5-speed transmission. The brakes on it are also taken from the Cruise model and it gets a 280mm front and 130mm rear disc brake.

Verdict

The Bajaj Avenger is a cult model from the company that is solely loved by customers for its comfortable ride. However, the 220cc engine option was only available with the Cruise variant. Now, with less pricing, customers have the option to choose the more powerful engine with the looks of Street 160.
