
Delhi Government has recently strengthened the traffic rules so as to maintain law and order on the roads of the national capital. These rules have now taken over the private buses as well. From now on, there is a challan for private buses in Delhi which do not obey the lane discipline on road.
The Transport Department of Delhi had proposed a lane discipline system in the city for buses and goods carriers from April 1, 2022 which came into force from 9th of this month. In addition to public buses under DTC and Cluster, all private buses with a stage carrier or contract carriage permits and All India Tourist Permit will have to adhere to these norms. In violation of these lane enforcement rules, the private bus operators and drivers can also be booked under these violations. The fines applicable shall amount to Rs. 10,000 and might result in an imprisonment of six months for errant drivers.

The traffic police and the Transport Department of Delhi have marked dedicated lanes which will be used only by buses and goods carriers in Delhi from 8 AM to 10 PM. This was a much necessary move which was awaited since long as this would aid to the safety of the commuters on the road. Alongside this would aid to reduce the traffic on the road due to buses and trucks changing lanes and jamming other passenger vehicles.

With setting up a challan system for private buses, fleet operators and their drivers would drive with care on the road without risking the life of the passengers and the commuters on the road.
