Haima Automobile, part of Chinese state owned First Automobile Works (FAW) is all set to make its entry at the 2020 Auto Expo India. The manufacturer is in talks with the central and state government of India for setting up their base.
Haima will be one of the early Chinese automobile manufacturers to set up its base in India after MG Motor. The latter debuted with the Hector which turned out to be a major success and their second product will be a ZS EV.
A company spokesperson from Haima Automobiles spoke to Autocar India and said, " Currently, we are conducting in-depth market surveys of Indian markets, and are concurrently in discussions with central, state governments, and OEM component manufacturers, planning our India-specific strategy and market entry ".

To make the process easier for setting up its base, the manufacturer is following a futuristic approach as they have joined hands with Bird Electric. The latter is a subordinate of the Bird Group and Bird Automotive is a dealer of BMW and Mini in India.
While we may not be aware of the products they will be showcasing at the Auto Expo, their partnership with Bird Electric gives us a hint that they will be bringing a variety of electric vehicles. As India is a growing market and the popularity of electric vehicles is increasing, we think it is the right step for paving its way.

Globally, Haima electric vehicles list includes Haima @3, EV160, E1, E3 mid-size sedan, E7 and F7. They also manufacture commercial electric vehicles model which is a Haima FSTAR.
The company was first founded in 1988 in Haikou City, Hainan Province, China. Originally they sold rebadged Mazda models in China and later the company was acquired by FAW.
