Electric cars are the future for the automobile industry and to follow the trend, MG Motors and Tata Motors will be bringing their set of products in the Indian markets soon. The upcoming electric SUVs, MG ZS EV and Tata Nexon EV will be seen in Jan 2020.
Also, the bookings of these upcoming electric SUVs have begun at the dealerships level. MG ZS EV is the second product from the MG Motor after the Hector and it will take on the likes of Hyundai Kona.
The car will go on sale in January 2020 and the manufacturer is offering a special introductory price for the first 1000 customers. One can book the ZS EV at a booking amount of Rs 50,000 only.

MG ZS EV is powered by a 44.5 kWh battery pack and produces 141 bhp and a peak torque of 353 Nm. The battery pack promises a claimed driving range of 340 km. Talking about the performance then the MG ZS EV can do a sprint of 0-100km/h in a brisk of 8.5 seconds.
MG Motors has also set up fast chargers at select dealerships which can juice up the battery from 0-80% in just 50 minutes. The 7.4kWh home/office charger which the company will install can fully charge the battery in 6-8 hours.
When launched, the MG ZS EV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Kona. In our opinion, the ZS EV offers more premium features, a larger infotainment system and a panoramic sunroof which is the most loved trait by the Indians. We expect the prices of this electric SUV to be between Rs 20 lakh - Rs 23 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Now, talking about the Tata Nexon EV, it will pack a 30.2 kWh battery pack which comes with an 8 year or a 1.6 lakh km warranty, whichever is at the earliest. It produces 129 bhp along with 245 Nm of peak torque and will come in two driving modes - Drive and Sport. The driving range claimed by Tata is 300+ km.
The Nexon EV will also get fast charging capability which can charge the battery from 0-80% in just 60 minutes. Also, the eSUV will get a 15A AC charger which will juice the battery from 0-100% in just 8-9 hours.
Bookings for the Tata Nexon EV have started at a price tag of Rs 21,000 and this will be India's most affordable electric SUV. When launched, we are expecting the price tag to be in between Rs 15 lakh - 17 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Note - The booking amount of both MG ZS EV and Tata Nexon EV which are Rs 50,000 and Rs 21,000 respectively are fully refundable.
