There's a 95kW fuel cell powering an electric drive motor that generates 163PS of power and 400NM of torque, giving the SUV a WLTP range of 666km on a full tank of hydrogen. That's enough to propel the vehicle from 0 to 100kmph in 9.2 seconds. Nexo can reach a top speed of 180kmph. Unlike EVs, the Nexo FCEV can be fully refueled in less than 5 mins.

Design & Exterior:

The Nexo is a modern-looking SUV designed to showcase Hyundai's next generation of design language. The Nexo gets some unique design elements like flush-type door handles, cascading front grill, connected bar-type front DRLs, LED lights all around, and triangular-shaped taillamps. Looking from the side, the SUV gets a floating roof design and stylish 5-spoke alloy wheels.

Interior & Features:

The Nexo gets futuristic-looking and luxurious interiors. The dashboard is dominated by two screens, one being a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system and another being a 7-inch driver display. It also features an 8-speaker Krell sound system. The center console in Nexo is designed in a floating style and gets buttons for drive mode selection. There's also a wide-opening sunroof, powered tailgate, ventilated front seats, and wireless phone charging on offer.

Safety:

The NEXO FCEV gets Hyundai next-gen ADAS technology with advanced level 2+ features like highway drive assist, lane follow assist, autonomous parking, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot assist, high beam assist, etc. The Nexo is so advanced that it can autonomously park and retrieve itself at the command of the driver. Apart from all the ADAS tech, Nexo gets 6 airbags for passive safety and electronic aids like traction control and ESP for active safety.

Verdict: Though Hyundai has just showcased the Nexo SUV at the auto expo, the hydrogen fuel cell-powered vehicle might be Hyundai's first launch in the Indian market if the Indian government goes ahead with the plan to adopt and democratize hydrogen-powered vehicles in the country.
