Jaguar India announced last year about the launch of the all-electric I-Pace in India. Due to the Covid-19, the launch of the Jaguar I-Pace saw a delay but now it is expected around Diwali. The Jaguar I-Pace has also been listed on the Jaguar India website and one can also register their interest. In June, the already amazing I-Pace got a global update with more features and better charging.

Jaguar I-Pace is not a name which is unheard before. Having a lot of global design, safety and EV awards under its collar, Jaguar I-Pace was also the 2019 world car of the year. With the silhouette inspired by the Jaguar C-X75, the I-Pace is a very sleek looking SUV. Thanks to its flowing body lines and aerodynamics, the I-Pace - despite being a premium SUV - sports a drag coefficient of just 0.29cd which is just 0.01 more than that of the Volkswagen ID.4 electric crossover.

The front of the Jaguar is aggressive - like every other Jaguar - featuring all-LED headlights with dynamic turn indicators. The front grille of the I-Pace has a curved shape which acts as a scoop and comes out from the bonnet, resulting in better airflow. The side profile of the Jaguar I-Pace sports flush-fitting door handles and muscular haunches giving it a wider appeal on the road. Talking about the rear, we get typical Jaguar LED taillights and a sharp crease on the boot. As it is an all-electric SUV, there is no exhaust pipe giving it a clean look at the back.

Moving to the interiors of the Jaguar I-Pace, we have a very quirky dashboard layout. The central touchscreen is fixed inside a seamless glass panel and, with the updated model, gets the latest Pivi Pro infotainment. The touchscreen is said to be as fast and easy to use as your smartphone and also gets live navigation. The driver's display is highly customisable and gets all the controls on the steering wheel. The flowing design of the central console contains the second screen which is used for air conditioner controls and other features.

Now talking about the heart of the I-Pace, which is not an engine like every other car. We have twin electric motors, mounted at each axle, belting out 400 PS and 696 Nm of torque. The electric motors draw power from its 90 kWh battery pack placed under the floor. Talking about range and charging, the Jaguar I-Pace can do over 470 km with a full charge. The I-Pace sports various charging methods and the latest update comes with 11 kW AC home charging which adds 53 km with every hour of charge. Plug it in a 100 kW DC fash charger and it will go to 80% in just 40 minutes. Despite having the weight of over two tonnes, the I-Pace can sprint from nought to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds.

Jaguar I-Pace is the most intriguing electric SUV around the globe after the ludicrous Tesla cars. Talking about competition, the Jaguar I-Pace rubs its shoulders with the Mercedes-Benz EQC 400 and Audi E-Tron. The Mercedes-EQC 400 is about to hit our shores and we have already driven the SUV. These full-size electric SUVs doesn't come cheap, similarly, the Jaguar I-Pace will be priced over 1 Crore on its India launch near Diwali.
