Kia launched the new Kia Sonnet (read here) in the Indian market and the car looks almost identical to the concept which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. Just like its elder sibling, the Sonet will be offered in two broad trims - GT Line and Tech Line. Exteriors
While the two variants look quite similar to each other, there are a number of elements that distinguish the GT Line models. To start with, there is a neat and a sporty looking red finish given to a number of elements on the front grille and bumper while the silver insert in the lower air dam too is different from that found on the Tech Line models. The use of red finish can also be seen on the lower parts of doors and calipers which make the Sonet look very appealing and sporty. Just like the front, the rear also gets a number of changes such as blacked-out skid plate with red inserts which can be seen on the GT Line. On the other hand, the Tech Line variant gets a subtle, silver coloured unit at the rear. Apart from that, the headlamps and the tail lamps design remain similar and both these variants feature dual-tone alloy wheels.

Interiors
Speaking of the interiors, the GT Line variant features an all-black cabin, unlike the Tech Line which comes with a black-beige colour scheme. Apart from that, the GT line gets variant insignia on the front seats and steering wheel in addition to contrast red stitching and aluminum pedals which are missing in the Tech Line variants. With this being said, both these variants get ane equally good cabin in terms of overall comfort and space.

Engine and Gearbox Combinations
Three engines will be on offer with the Sonet. These will include a 1.2-L naturally aspirated petrol engine, 1.5-L turbocharged diesel engine, and a 1.0-L turbocharged petrol engine and the maximum power output from these engines stand at 83 PS, 100 PS, and 120 PS respectively. The Tech Line models are expected to be offered with 1.2-L petrol and 1.5-L diesel engine while the 1.0-L turbo will be available in the GT Line line-up only. In addition to the 1.0-L turbo petrol, the GT Line variants may also offer a diesel automatic powertrain options. It is also worth noting the fact that the Sonet is the only car in its class to come with a diesel automatic variant. A DCT gearbox and a clutchless manual gearbox will be mated to the 1.0-L turbo petrol engine while a manual gearbox will be available with all the three engine options.
