Lexus India, the premium division of Toyota, has announced a price drop across its lineup as the revised GST rates bring down the tax on luxury cars from 48% to 40%. Let's take a look at how much more affordable these cars have become and their current ex-showroom prices. Do note, however, that the revised GST rates will come into effect from September 22.
Model | Current Ex-Showroom Price | Reduction in Price |
ES 300h | Rs 64,00,000 | Up to Rs 1,47,000 |
NX 350h | Rs 68,02,000 | Up to Rs 1,58,000 |
RX 350h | Rs 98,19,000 | Up to Rs 2,10,000 |
RX 500h | Rs 1,21,00,000 | Up to Rs 2,58,000 |
LM 350h | Rs 2,20,00,000 | Up to Rs 5,77,000 |
LX 500d | Rs 3,00,00,000 | Up to Rs 20,80,000 |
Making the announcement, Hikaru Ikeuchi, President, Lexus India, said, "We sincerely thank the Government of India for this historic reform and are delighted to extend the full benefit of the GST rate reduction to our valued guests across the country. Verdict
The revised GST rates will take effect from September 22, and car sales are expected to blossom. The Indian automotive sector hasnt been able to recreate the same buzz it witnessed in 2022, and since then, several automakers - especially in the mass-market segment -have been struggling. However, Lexus has had an exceptional run even during these challenging times, with the LM 350h turning into a blockbuster.
In fact, last year the company had to stop accepting bookings as demand had already exceeded capacity. Moreover, its other models have also received a strong response, helping Lexus improve its market share in the luxury segment through 2024. With the revised prices, the brand is expected to gain even further momentum.
