The Ministry of Heavy Industry has confirmed that Indian Made Electric two Wheelers will get incentives. The previous subsidy rate for the electric two-wheelers in the country was Rs.10,000/kWh. However, the government has decided to change it to Rs.15,000/kWh.
The electric vehicle market in India has not put its brakes on since the sales in the country have been booming even after COVID-19 had its impact on many. At times when the carbon footprint is increasing, EVs seem to be the best alternative to Internal Combustion Vehicles (ICVs). Being a better mobility solution, the Indian government has made a major amendment to the currently functioning FAME-II scheme.

The main focus of the Indian Government is to increase the sales of electric vehicles, However, the cost of an EV is higher than its ICV counterparts with a difference of Rs.20,000. This amendment to cut down the price will ensure full-electric vehicle adoption by the earliest which is anticipated to be within 2030.
Ather is the first electric two-wheeler company in India to drop the subsidy by Rs.14,500 for its 450X electric scooter. Further details are yet to be revealed by the company.

The amendment also seeks to ensure a cap on the electric two-wheeler incentives which is said to be up to 40% of the vehicle cost. In addition to this, the Central Government of India has decided to launch electric buses and electric three-wheelers on a large scale. It has been stated that around three lakh electric three-wheelers will commence operations and will be implemented in various machinery of the government. EESL has been assigned the task of implementing this scheme. The cities to get electric buses are Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Surat, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.
Right now, the highest amount of electric buses in operation are in Gujarat, Delhi and Nagpur. The electric buses in these places provide a battery range of more than 200Km in a single charge. The batteries of the electric buses are swappable which is good for maintenance.
