Mahindra has a long history of developing and offereing highly capable off-roaders in the Indian market. One such vehicle was the Mahindra Commander which became one of the highest selling jeep vehicles produced by the Indian carmaker. The Mahindra Commander replaced the Mahindra Wagonette in the Indian market and was offered with a soft top and a metal hard top. Mahindra Commander 750 ST

The same design language of a typical Mahindra jeeep was carried forward to the Commander 750 which made it look highly appealing and distinctive. The SUV measured 4060 mm in length while the width and wheelbase of the vehicle stood at 1785 mm and 2680 mm respectively. The compact footprint and high approach and departure angles made it an excellent off-road and the vehcile had immense capabilities. In addition to this, the Commander 750 had a turning circle radius of 6.60 m while the curb weight was 1370 kgs.

The Mahindra Commander 750 was powered by a Peugeot sourced 2112 cc XDP 4.90 B diesel engine. This engine churned out 62 hp and 120 Nm while it came mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox. The buyers of the Mahindra Commander could also opt for the 4WD variant of the vehcile. The lower variants of the Commander were powered by a 2650 cc diesel engine that delivered 59 hp and came mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox.

Mahindra Commander 750 ST

The Mahindra Commander 750 was undedrpined by a rectangular tubular section chassis with four intermediate cross members and front bumpers. The vehicle had semi-elliptical leaf type suspenion at front and rear with tension side of leaves shot peened. The rated fuel tank capacity was 45 litres and the Commander also featured a speedometer, temeprature and fuel gauges, boltmeter and oul pressure gauge, etc.
