As per an online report (source), Suzuki has two different codename models planned for the mass market in India. One is called Y43, and the other is called Y17. The Y43 will be a micro-SUV that will rival the likes of the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter. While the platform details for this model are known, it'll be positioned below the Brezza SUV. This model will debut in India by late 2025. The price bracket of it'll be somewhere in between Rs 8-11 lakh.

The other model, i.e. Y17, will be a 7-seater version of the Grand Vitara. The success of Grad Vitara has shown a new path for Maruti in segment diversification. Hence, Maruti Suzuki feels that there is space in this segment to grow with a little bigger platform enhancement. Therefore, a strong hybrid engine with multiple seating variants will make sense to buyers. Currently, such buyers head towards options like the Hyundai Alcazar & Mahindra XUV700. The debut timeline of this model can be expected by late 2026 or early 2027. The expected price range of it'll be around Rs 15-25 lakh.

Verdict

The SUV segments in India have taken over the market share of other car segments prominently. In fact, Maruti Suzuki shares about 20 percent market share in the utility vehicles. The new three-row SUV along with a new micro-SUV will help in capturizing the market of SUVs for Maruti. Tell us what you think about these new upcoming SUVs below in the comments.
