Maruti Swift has been the favorite hatchback in India for a long time. But, the most powerful variant i.e. Swift Sport was never launched in India despite being such a big market for it. Now, for the first time, Maruti Suzuki Swift Sport has been spied on Indian soil. Is Suzuki planning a launch for the Indian market soon?

Maruti is already working on the new generation of Swift which is scheduled for a global launch by next year. Once the new car debuts internationally, it'll be a matter of time before it gets launched in India. Ironically, the Indian market is a sucker for hatchbacks, and Swift Sport being the most powerful version is still absent from the Maruti's stable.
Talking about the spied car, it was imported privately during the pandemic times. There are no further details regarding the ownership of this vary car. Imported in a gloss white colour, the spied car is production-ready. This can very well be a private import from an auto enthusiast. Well, a little is known about this imported unit of Swift Sport.
Design-wise, the front end embraces a reworked bumper, front grille, fog lamp inserts, bumper lips, and carbon fiber treatment as well. Similarly, the side profile enjoys the side skirts with carbon fiber treatment. The alloy wheel design also seems to be different than the regular Swift. At the rear end, a redesigned bumper embeds the dual-exhaust tips which refer to the high-performance output from the car. Suzuki provides a reworked and grunt-full exhaust system in the Swift Sport.
Although the interiors of the imported unit were not clicked we can surely tell that they are different from the regular car. Suzuki uses carbon fiber inserts with sporty black leather and red stitching for a sporty cabin feel. Also, the steering wheel is a flat-bottom racing car-inspired that has carbon fiber inserts for the sporty driving feel.

Under the hood are the major changes that Swift Sport enjoys. It uses a 1.4-lt, Boosterjet, a turbo-petrol engine that produces a peak power of 129 hp and 235 Nm of peak torque. Transmission is an optional 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It is anticipated that the next-gen Swift Sport will use a mild-hybrid tech for better power output. There are reports over the internet suggesting that the next-gen car might pump around 158 hp of power.
Swift is a top-selling hatchback in the domestic market. Maruti has been consistently working towards a better design and mechanicals with each generation of it. The new generation car once launched internationally, will bring radical changes. For now, there are no news reports which indicate the near launch of Swift Sport in India soon. Although, the die-hard Swift Sport fans await some good news from Maruti.
