Maruti Suzuki Victoris Outsells Its Own Sibling, Grand Vitara

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Victoris outsells Grand Vitara with over 13,000 units in October 2025
  • Competitive pricing and a wider Arena network boost early momentum

Maruti Suzuki seems to have struck gold with its latest SUV, the Victoris. Barely months after launch, the Victoris has already started rewriting the pecking order in the hotly contested mid-size SUV segment. The SUV not only outsold its premium sibling, the Grand Vitara, in October 2025 but also closed in on the segment leader, the Hyundai Creta, signalling a major shift in buyer preferences. Let's take a closer look at the details. However, before moving further, make sure to join the 91Wheels WhatsApp community to never miss out on any automotive updates.

Victoris Beats Grand Vitara in October Sales

According to the latest sales data, Maruti Suzuki sold 13,496 units of the Victoris in October 2025, overtaking the Grand Vitara, which managed 10,409 units during the same period. This makes the Victoris Maruti's highest-selling mid-size SUV, an impressive feat for a model that's still in its launch phase. The key difference lies in where the two SUVs are sold; while the Grand Vitara is retailed through Maruti's premium Nexa outlets, the Victoris is available via the company's Arena network. With Arena's wider reach and stronger presence in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, the Victoris seems to be connecting with a larger and more diverse customer base.

Notably, the Hyundai Creta continues to rule the mid-size SUV space with 18,381 units sold in October. However, the Victoris's rapid rise has put Hyundai on notice. The gap between the two models is narrowing faster than expected.

Another reason behind Victoris's fast start lies in its strategic pricing and familiar mechanical setup. Priced from Rs 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom), the Victoris undercuts the Grand Vitara, which starts at around Rs 10.77 lakh. That small difference gives the Victoris a stronger value-for-money image, especially since it packs a near-identical feature list.

Under the hood, both SUVs share the same set of powertrains: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-litre CNG option, and the more advanced 1.5-litre strong-hybrid setup paired with an e-CVT.

Verdict

With the Victoris, Maruti Suzuki has clearly found the sweet spot between value and reach. Its aggressive pricing, shared hybrid tech, and accessibility through the Arena network have helped it connect with a broader audience. Outselling the Grand Vitara this early is no small feat, and with the gap to the Hyundai Creta shrinking fast, the Victoris is emerging as one of the most serious contenders in the mid-size SUV race.
