With the recent GST rate revisions, popular MG cars have become more accessible to buyers. The price reductions primarily affect models like the Hector, Astor, and Gloster. However, electric MG vehicles, including the Windsor, ZS EV, Comet EV, Cyberster, and MG M9, remain unaffected, as GST rates for EVs have not changed. The MG Hector, available in both 1.5-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel variants, has seen meaningful price corrections. The base Style 1.5-litre Petrol MT variant is now priced at Rs. 14 lakh, down from Rs. 14.50 lakh, making it more accessible to first-time buyers. Petrol CVT variants also enjoy reductions, with the Shine Pro 1.5-litre Petrol CVT now available at Rs. 17.20 lakh and the Sharp Pro 1.5-litre Petrol CVT GE at Rs. 21.31 lakh. Diesel variants see even more substantial savings where the Shine Pro 2.0-litre Diesel MT is down to Rs. 17.28 lakh, while the Sharp Pro 2.0-litre Diesel MT GE now costs Rs. 20.76 lakh, reflecting a price cut of Rs. 1.49 lakh.

The MG Astor has also become more budget-friendly following the GST changes. Price drops across the lineup range from Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 54,000. The Sprint 1.5-litre Petrol MT is now offered at Rs. 9.65 lakh, while the Select 1.5-litre Petrol MT BE and Sharp Pro 1.5-litre Petrol MT variants are priced at Rs. 13.30 lakh and Rs. 13.32 lakh, respectively. Among CVT variants, the Savvy Pro 1.5-litre Petrol CVT sees the maximum reduction of Rs. 54,000, now costing Rs. 15.16 lakh.

The one which gets the most benefit in absolute money terms out of all the MG cars is the Fortuner rival MG Gloster, has also benefited significantly from the GST revision, especially its diesel variants. The 6-seater 2.0-litre Savvy 4WD now costs Rs. 36.59 lakh, down from Rs. 39.21 lakh, while the 7-seater 2.0-litre Savvy 4WD sees a massive Rs. 3.04 lakh reduction, bringing the price to Rs. 42.49 lakh. Even the 2WD variants have become more competitive, with prices decreasing by Rs. 2.84 lakh to Rs. 2.89 lakh and now ranging between Rs. 39.80 lakh and Rs. 40.46 lakh. These adjustments bring the Gloster closer to rival SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner and Jeep Meridian, offering premium features at more attractive prices.
Verdict
The recent GST-driven price revisions have made MG cars significantly more accessible, offering meaningful savings across the Hector, Astor, and Gloster line-ups. Buyers can now enjoy reductions ranging from modest cuts in the Astor to substantial drops of over Rs. 3 lakh in the Gloster, without compromising on features or performance. These adjustments strengthen MG's competitiveness in the Indian SUV market, soemthing that it really needs to step up the sales number which have not been what they would have liked.
