Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has announced the commencement of bookings of the second generation of the Celerio. The new-gen Maruti Celerio will launch on November 10 and will be a complete model replacement for the current version. Along with announcing the opening of the order books, the carmaker has also revealed that its upcoming product is Indias most fuel-efficient petrol car.
Bookings for the new-gen Maruti Celerio can be made through payment of Rs 11,000 either on Maruti Suzuki Arena website or any of the authorized dealership. Speaking at the opening of the bookings, Mr. Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, Since its launch, Celerio took the market by storm with its unique style and the revolutionary Auto Gear Shift (AGS) Technology, that helped democratize the two-pedal technology in the country. Brand Celerio has since then stood for new age technology, modern design and practicality. Todays urban, progressive and aspirational customers, look for lively, active and vivid products to match their persona. The All-New Celerio with a new petrol engine, vibrant and stylish design, and with host of segment-first features is an all-rounder. We are confident that the All-New Celerio will once again energize the compact segment.
Mr. CV Raman, Chief Technical Officer (Engineering), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, Powered by Next-Gen K-Series Dual Jet, Dual VVT Engine with first in segment Idle Start-Stop Technology, All-New Celerio will be the MOST FUEL EFFICIENT PETROL CAR IN INDIA.
The new-gen Maruti Celerio even debuts the carmakers new design language that is dubbed as 3D organic sculpted design. The highlight of the aesthetics has to be the rather cutesy front-end that carries an ovalish grill and a chunky bumper along with huge plastic cladding on the front bumper.
Even mechanically, the new Celerio won't be anything like the current model. Underpinning the new car will be the lightweight-yet-rigid HEARTECT platform that will be shared with the Swift as well as the Baleno. Engine options are likely to be shared with the WagonR, which means the new model would go on sale with a 1.0-litre K10C, three-cylinder petrol as well as a 1.2-litre K12M, four-cylinder petrol engine. The smaller engine could even get CNG variants. In the petrol format, the 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre K-Series engines output 67PS and 81PS, respectively. The engines will offer idle start-stop technology to boost fuel efficiency. That said, even though the new model will be India's most fuel-efficient petrol car, its mileage figures are yet to be revealed.
