Skoda Kushaq Production Begins in India; Launch Later This Month - All Details

The all-new Skoda Kushaq mid-size SUV made its World Premiere in India in March this year. The Kushaq will be the first offering from Skoda under its new India 2.0 Project. Its launch was originally slated to happen in May this year but due to the second wave of the COVID-19 in India, the company postponed its launch. But now, the production of the all-new 2021 Skoda Kushaq SUV has begun in India and it will be launched later this month.

Skoda Auto India Private Limited has just announced that the production of the all-new Kushaq SUV has begun in India. The Kushaq is manufactured at the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd (SAVWIPL) plant in Chakan, Pune, Maharashtra. The company has also announced that the Skoda Kushaq will be launched in the country launch later this month. This means that Skoda will launch two new cars this month in India - New Skoda Octavia (launch scheduled for June 10, 2021) and the all-new Skoda Kushaq later this month.

Following the launch, the customer deliveries of the new Skoda Kushaq will begin in July this year. The Kushaq will get two BS6 compliant turbo petrol engines in India. The first one will be a 1.0-litre TSI that will churn out 115 PS of power and 175 Nm of peak torque. It will also get a 1.5-litre TSI that will churn out 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of peak torque. Both the mills will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and while the 1.0-litre TSI will also get a 6-speed AT, the 1.5-litre TSI will get the 7-speed DSG unit.

Speaking on the production start, Zac Hollis, Brand Director - Skoda Auto India, said, "With the start of production of the all-new Kushaq, we are looking at a new chapter to mark the success story of Skoda Auto in India. India's preference for SUVs has continued to grow steadily over the years. The new Kushaq will offer an unparalleled driving experience and brings together all the attributes that matter to an SUV buyer. The team is gearing up for the launch later this month. We have already increased our network reach substantially and have instituted several best practices towards ensuring customer delight. With Kushaq, we are looking forward to welcoming more customers into the SKODA family."

The new Skoda Kushaq is expected to be priced in India between Rs. 9.99 lakhs - Rs. 15.99 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi.
