Charging Comes To You
In a move set to significantly ease electric vehicle (EV) ownership in India's National Capital Region, Tata.ev, the electric mobility arm of Tata Motors, has launched an on-demand doorstep EV charging service in Delhi-NCR, in partnership with mobile charging solutions provider Hopcharge. The initiative aims to address one of the biggest practical barriers for urban EV users: access to convenient charging infrastructure.

Under the new service, mobile fast-charging vans will be deployed across the region, including Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, and Faridabad. EV owners can book a charging van through a dedicated platform, after which a fully equipped charging vehicle will travel to their chosen location, whether that's at home, at work, or elsewhere, and recharge their vehicle on-site.
The service comes with multiple subscription plans:-
- The Experience plan (6 months) offers 24 fast-charging sessions and 6 RescueCharge sessions of up to 5 kWh each.
- The Success 3.3 plan (12 months) includes 48 fast charges and 12 RescueCharge sessions, along with unlimited rescheduling.
- The Success 7.2 plan (24 months) doubles this with 96 fast charges and 24 RescueCharge sessions.
- Under all plans, customers can charge their EVs to 100 % State of Charge (SOC) once per month.
Delhi-NCR has emerged as one of Indias fastest-growing EV markets. However, charging infrastructure in dense urban pockets has not always kept pace with demand. By introducing a mobile charging network, Tata aims to bridge this gap and reduce 'range anxiety' for both current and prospective EV owners.
This solution could especially benefit first-time EV buyers who hesitate due to uncertainty around charging accessibility. Bringing charging directly to the user removes a key psychological and logistical barrier.

Verdict
With doorstep charging, Tata Motors is addressing one of the biggest pain points of EV ownership in urban India, charging accessibility. By bringing fast charging directly to customers in Delhi-NCR through its partnership with Hopcharge, the brand is not just expanding infrastructure but redefining convenience. If executed efficiently and priced competitively, this service could significantly boost EV adoption, especially among apartment dwellers and first-time buyers hesitant about charging challenges.
