Tata Harrier EV: Retains The Soul, But With Electric Tweaks

Tata Harrier EV was revealed at the Auto Expo, where the placement of the model piqued interests, and the revelation of the model coming with an AWD drivetrain made the adventure enthusiasts more involved. Notably, this is also the first Tata electric vehicle to offer this option. As for the exterior styling, it stays true to the displayed model with its butch and bulky road presence and the same aero cut alloy wheel design.

Talking about its resemblance with the ICE iteration, it makes sure that the legacy is carried forward with the silhouette and the styling, but with the typical EV-specific design distinctions like a closed-off grille and a more pronounced front bumper, which offers that visual disconnect for a more easy differentiation. The rear is again your typical Harrier ICE copy with the connected tail lamps, along with the same pull-type handle, but the charging port makes its placement on the front right fender.
Interior And Features

Coming to the interiors, the dashboard layout stays similar to the ICE model currently on sale, but again, as it is with the EVs, this will be a richer affair in terms of features on offer. It will continue to mimic some key features from the Harrier EV like a 10.25 inch infotainment screen and a 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster, V2L facility, Level 2 ADAS, dual zone climate control, ventilated seats, premium 10-speaker sound system by JBL, 360 degree camera, 7 airbags setup, fast charging, and a lot more.

Battery And Range
While it is confirmed that the EV will feature a dual-motor setup with an all-wheel-drive system, more details are still awaited and is expected to be revealed as the launch nears. The Harrier EV is expected to offer a range of up to 500 km on a single charge, and weighing in on current expectations, the model could be offered with two battery options: a smaller 60 kWh pack paired with a two-wheel-drive configuration, and a larger 75 kWh pack for the all-wheel-drive variant.
The launch is set for June 3 and the pricing is expected to be around Rs 25 lakhs to Rs 30 lakhs ex-showroom. As for the rivals, it will take on other electric cars in its class, like of Hyundai Creta EV, MG Windsor EV, MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, and others.
Verdict
Tata Harrier EV is all set to be the next electric vehicle in the Indian landscape, and while anticipation runs high, a lot will ride on its pricing, given the features and specs already hint at a well equipped package. Not to forget, it would be interesting to see if Tata offers a BaaS rental plan like MG Windsor, which right now, is a pretty hot option in the market.
