Hi, I'm Tejen. I was born and brought up in a small town of Haryana. However, from the day of my birth and until now, I've always lived around cars and motorcycles. More than passion, the automotive world is my only lifestyle. It's the connection to the vehicle that delivers me peace. However, when it comes to a choice; my instinct leads me towards motorcycles.

Royal Enfield Scram 450: What To Expect?

Visible in the spy shots, the Scram 450 will essentially be a roadster bike. It'll get a slightly committed riding position and its main aim will be young customers. The upright handlebar, rear set foot pegs, and the front-lean riding posture are the highlights. Moreover, it'll not lose the retro charm as it gets a round LED headlight and a sculpted fuel tank.

As said earlier, it'll be based on the Himalayan 450 platform. Hence, the Sherpa 450 engine will be used with a little change in its gear ratios. This engine makes a peak power of 39.47 bhp and 40 Nm of peak torque. We assume that it'll be a peppy bike to ride with an agile handling. Features include LED lights, a round instrument console (possibly a TFT digital screen), and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Hardware will be a little less loaded as compared to the Himalayan. The test bike has smaller wheels for better city handling and a front suspension is also a telescopic unit. The rear suspension will be an adjustable monoshock unit. The disc brakes appear to be of the same size as the Himalayan.

Moreover, Royal Enfield aims to hit rivals like the KTM 390 Duke and the Triumph Speed 400 with this new roadster. The success of Hunter 350 is a sign that RE is hopeful about a bigger Scram 450. The new Sherpa engine and the new chassis of Himalayan have already gathered a lot of applause from the biking community. Hence, the Scram 450 can be a game-changer as well.

While there are no details regarding its launch time and pricing, we suspect that it'll be revealed at the EICMA later this year. Royal Enfield's aggressive introductory price strategy will follow here also. It is possible that the Scram can be priced between Rs 2.30 - 2.50 lakh; when launched.

Verdict

The success of the new Himalayan is an indication that the 450 platform has a wide range to be explored. Therefore, introducing a roadster bike looks like a wise decision. We're eagerly waiting that it reaches its production stage, that the test bike here appears, and we get to test it soon. Tell us in the comments about your thoughts on this new upcoming Scram 450.
