Skoda Octavia vRS is well known as a performance-oriented, powerful and premium sedan in the market that offers a perfect balance one would want in a fun to drive, performance-oriented car. Under the shell, the Octavia vRS houses a more powerful engine with a superior mechanical setup and commendable upgrades like a better suspension system. Every year, the Czech carmaker introduces limited units of the Octavia vRS in the Indian market but the brand recently confirmed that it will not be bringing the 2022 Skoda Octavia vRS in India.
While the brand has confirmed that it will not be launching the 2022 Octavia vRS, the 2023 launch is yet to be decided. The last Octavia vRS 245 was brought into the country via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route, and the brand only offered limited units. The 2021 Octavia RS 245 boasted an extremely potent and powerful 1,984cc four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produced a maximum power output of 245 hp and 370 Nm of peak torque. This engine comes mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and offers a seamless driving experience altogether.
Having said this, the standard Skoda Octavia in India is offered with a 2.0-L TSI engine that is known to offer great performance and refinement in addition to commendable fuel economy figures. In its standard iteration, this engine delivers 188 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque output. A 7-speed fast-shifting DSG gearbox comes mated to this engine. The hardcore driving enthusiasts also get a manual Tiptronic function to take better control over the engine.
Under its India 2.0 program, Skoda India is all set to launch its second car in its new and updated portfolio. After a successful launch of the Kushaq in the Indian market, the brand will launch the new Slavia sedan. Based on the brands latest MQB A0-IN platform, the Slabia will be replacing the Rapid and will be offering a premium and a feature-rich cabin in addition to striking and sophisticated exterior design language. Just like the Kushaq, the Slavia too will boast two engine options and will give strong competition to the rivals like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and the Maruti Ciaz with its VFM pricing and a long features list.
